The Mumbai Indians (MI) finally returned to winning ways in the IPL 2026 season with a dominant 99-run victory against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 20. After the match, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was seen sharing an emotional moment off the field with his girlfriend, Mahieka Sharma.
Mumbai Indians entered the match under pressure, having lost four games in a row (Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, RCB and Punjab Kings) after winning their opening win against Kolkata Knight Riders by 6 wickets.
Batting first, MI posted a solid total, thanks largely to a brilliant unbeaten century from Tilak Varma. Despite early setbacks, MI recovered strongly and finished with a competitive score of 199/5.
In response, the Gujarat Titans struggled from the very beginning and were bowled out for just 100 runs in 15.5 overs. MI bowlers dominated the game, delivering impressive performances to secure a one-sided victory.
This match was also special for Jasprit Bumrah, as he finally secured his first wicket of the season after playing 6 matches.

It is important to note that Hardik has not had a very impactful IPL 2026 so far. The MI captain has so far played 5 innings and made 96 runs with the bat at an average of 24.00, and a strike-rate of 143.28. With the ball, in 5 innings, he has bagged three wickets at an economy rate of 11.69.
