Indian cricketers Ishan Kishan, Arshdeep Singh, and captain Suryakumar Yadav were seen enjoying the T20 World Cup 2026 opening ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium on February 7. 

The ceremony happened just before the India vs USA match, and the mood at the stadium was full of excitement. Before the serious action began on the field, the players took some time to relax and enjoy the show.

A video from the event was later shared on social media. According to reports, it was recorded by Suryakumar Yadav’s wife, Devisha Shetty. Soon after it was posted, the clip started spreading quickly online and grabbed the attention of many fans.

In the viral video, Bollywood actress and dancer Nora Fatehi was performing on stage. Meanwhile, the Indian players were watching the performance from the balcony of their dressing room. They looked cheerful and completely involved in the celebration.

As the camera turned toward them, Suryakumar Yadav was seen laughing and giving a thumbs-up. At the same time, Ishan Kishan and Arshdeep Singh were laughing loudly and clearly enjoying the dance. Their reactions were natural and playful, and therefore fans loved watching this lighter side of the team.

Star-studded T20 World Cup 2026 opening ceremony

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony itself was full of energy and famous personalities. Fans present at the Wankhede Stadium witnessed a colorful and lively event. However, the entire ceremony was not shown live on television, and broadcasters only shared short glimpses of the performances.

During the event, India’s 2024 T20 World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma and ICC Chairman Jay Shah came on stage to present the T20 World Cup trophy. In addition, several well-known performers entertained the audience. Nora Fatehi performed a dance number, while rapper Badshah, musician Sivamani, and Rishab Verma also gave exciting performances.

The ceremony began with a musical act by Rishab Sharma and Shivamani, which set the tone for the evening. After that, the T20 World Cup trophy entered the stadium in a dramatic style, as it was brought in by a jetpack performer. With this, the tournament was officially declared open.

Suryakumar Yadav’s fighting performance

Talking about the match, India faced the USA in their first Group A game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. However, the start was not easy for the Indian team. Opener Ishan Kishan got out early, and the team was at 45/2. Soon after, Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube were dismissed quickly, which left India struggling at 46/4.

At this point, captain Suryakumar Yadav stepped up and played a responsible innings. Even though wickets were falling at the other end, he did not give up. Playing at his home ground in Mumbai, he scored a fighting half-century in just 36 balls.

In addition, he built a 41-run partnership with Axar Patel, which helped stabilise the innings. Because of his efforts, India managed to reach a competitive total and avoided an upset in their opening match.

Meanwhile, India will now face Namibia in their next match on Thursday, February 12.
