Pakistan cricket is going through turmoil at the moment, with the team losing Test matches in England, and if that was not enough, the Pakistan Cricket Board has received flak for its recent selection decisions.

After suffering back-to-back embarrassing defeats in England, the Mohsin-Naqvi-led PCB committee sacked seven players from the Test squad and also removed Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul as the batting and bowling coaches, respectively.

Naqvi has also made certain comments that have not gone over well with a certain section of the fans. Iceland Cricket account, known for its humorous and sarcastic posts, took a sly dig at the PCB Chairman amid the turbulent times in Pakistan cricket.

The post appeared to take a dig at Naqvi’s selection strategy during the ongoing Pakistan tour of England, as the cricket team is witnessing a downfall.

"We are going to launch a new cricketing challenge for coastal cricketers. Clear an iceberg and you win an all-expenses paid educational trip to meet Mohsin Naqvi and learn about selection strategy. Trip can be one-way if you wish," Iceland Cricket wrote on X.

The hilarious joke came days after PCB made a major overhaul in their squad for the third Test against England, and removed several key players from the team.

Seven Pakistan players removed by Naqvi ahead of 3rd Test vs England

Pakistan were certainly poor in the first two Tests against England, as the hosts decimated the Asian side in both Tests without breaking a sweat. England won the first Test by an innings and 103 runs, and they defeated the Asian side by a huge margin of 194 runs at Lord’s.

After the end of the second Test, Mohsin Naqvi, alongside the Director of High-Performance, Aaqib Javed, made shocking selection calls as seven players were removed from the team and sent back to Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamir Jamal, Muhammad Awais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad were sent home after the Lord’s Test.

The PCB brought in seven replacements, including five players yet to make their Test debuts. Such abrupt decisions were met with scrutiny as the PCB came under the firing line.

Naqvi takes dig at India, South Africa, praises Pakistan

The removal of seven players and the sacking of the coaching team looked like the PCB pressed the panic button. Addressing the same issue, Naqvi took a sly dig at India and South Africa, stating that even these two nations have recently failed to deliver against Ireland and Namibia.

“South Africa lost to Namibia, while India had also suffered a defeat against Ireland. Does that mean their cricket is over? Absolutely not. No team can become a champion in just three months,” Naqvi said as stated by Pakistan media

India suffered a shocking 0-2 series loss against Ireland a few months ago, and recently, the Proteas got hammered by Namibia in the tri-series match.

While mocking the two nations, the PCB Chairman also praised himself, mentioning that under his tenure, Pakistan cricket has risen in the ICC rankings.

“Pakistan have shown significant improvement, climbing from No. 9 to No. 6 in the T20I rankings and from No. 8 to No. 5 in ODI cricket. Those who say cricket has been destroyed since I came should look at what the rankings were before," Naqvi added.

Pakistan will take on England in the 3rd Test, starting on September 9, and it will be interesting to see if Naqvi’s strange selection decisions will work or not.
