There, the ICC and other board members had an informal discussion on several topics related to the Future Tours Programme (FTP) covering 2027 to 2031.There, India, England, and Australia highlighted that they have too much cricket and won’t have any space left in their respective upcoming schedules."England, Australia and India are adamant that there is no space in the calendar for additional events unless the ICC removes existing tournaments such as World Cups and the Champions Trophy, which has not been discussed," the report read. Also Read: Jay Shah’s ICC Appoints First-Ever Zimbabwe Member For Crucial Position Till World CupAs the BCCI, India’s cricketing governing body, generates 70% of cricket’s global revenue, the ICC can not proceed without their approval. What Is World Club Championship? The World Club Championship will be a competition in which top-tier franchises from all major cricketing nations will compete for glory. Earlier, there was a competition called the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20), which was very similar to its proposal. However, while CLT20 was a bit limited to top-playing nations, the World Club Championship, once it gets introduced, will have teams from associate nations as well. In the process, the competition will look like a more global event.CLT20 had six seasons between 2009 and 2014. Two IPL teams, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), won the competition two times each, while Australia’s New South Wales Blues and Sydney Sixers won the trophy once apiece. If the ICC manages to turn the World Club Championship into reality, it will be a major thing in terms of cricket’s overall improvement. Players from small cricketing nations will get more motivated to set their standards high in order to get an opportunity to play against top internationals. Also Read: Kuldeep Yadav Unlikely To Be Picked In India Test Squad vs New Zealand- Report
