The Indian fans are enjoying some classic T20 action in the ongoing WPL, but the Gujarat Giants faced a setback in the middle. Young Indian pacer Titas Sadhu has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to an unfortunate injury.

With the franchise desperate for a strong replacement, they made a bold move by bringing in Jintimani Kalita. After spending the previous season with the Mumbai Indians Women, the youngster is looking forward to a new journey.

Titas Sadhu ruled out as Gujarat Giants faces major blow

Another edition of the WPL has returned with more excitement, and evenings are now better with sky-high T20 thrills. As the teams are locking horns with all intensity, the Gujarat Giants have faced a massive blow as young Indian pacer Titas Sadhu has been ruled out of the tournament.

Before the ongoing season commenced, the franchise bought Titas for a price of 30 lakhs. But since the season started, the pacer hasn’t featured in the previous matches due to injury. In the middle of the season, she has faced a major setback.

The injury blow has not been new to the youngster as she has been dealing with it since long time. Since last year, her appearances in the game have been limited. In the last edition of the tournament, she featured in only three matches of the WPL for the Delhi Capitals Women.

After missing a string of international fixtures, she made her comeback to competitive cricket with India A Women against Australia. After facing consecutive injury blows last year, she faced the setback once again.

Jintimani Kalita steps in as Titas Sadhu's replacement

As the franchise was looking for a replacement, they signed bowling all-rounder Jintimani Kalita with a 10 lakh deal. After spending two seasons with the Mumbai Indians Women, Kalita now gears up for a fresh challenge with the Giants.

Appearing in the MI jersey, she played 13 matches and scored 6 runs, and secured only one wicket. Donning the Gujarat Giants jersey, she is now eagerly waiting for the next chapter of her WPL journey.

Gujarat Giants need bold changes to stay in the playoff race

Starting their WPL 2026 journey, the Gujarat Giants started their journey with a thrilling 10-run victory against the UP Warriorz Women. Carrying on their excellent form, they defeated the opponent in just four runs. Just when it looked like a dream run was unfolding, their rhythm was suddenly disrupted.

Facing the Mumbai Indians Women, they faced a 7-wicket defeat. The woes deepened as they faced two consecutive defeats against the Royal Challengers Women. These three back-to-back defeats meant the Giants faced a massive heat on the points table.

With just two victories in five matches, they are standing in last position of the points table with just four points. With just three games left in the group stage, each match has become crucial to keep their playoff hopes alive. As they are all set to face the UP Warriorz in the next game, they will be desperate for a win.
