The England cricket team landed in Islamabad on Friday, October 17th for their upcoming ODI Tri-Series. Notably, the 7-match series will feature England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The series will kick off on October 18 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka. England, meanwhile, will begin their campaign on October 20, when they take on the hosts at Rawalpindi.

England land at Islamabad for Pakistan Tri-Series

Hence, to begin their preparations for the ODI Tri-Series, England players arrived at Islamabad on October 16. PCB officials welcomed the visiting players and support staff in traditional style before they travelled to their hotel.

England are expected to train at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday to prepare for the tournament. Notably, the series will feature 6 games and the final will be held on October 31 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Also, England will be captained by Harry Brook, while experienced batter Joe Root is also part of the squad. Veteran opener Jos Buttler, however, is out due to a serious hamstring injury. He is set to undergo surgery soon.

Apart from that, the 16-member squad includes Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, and Adil Rashid. So overall, England will be confident entering Pakistan for the Tri-Series.

It is worth noting that the tour is historic in itself as England will be touring Pakistan for an ODI series after 21 years. Due to terrorism, Pakistan could not play against international teams in Pakistan for over a decade. The last time England toured Pakistan was back in 2005-06 for a 5-match ODI series which the hosts won by a margin of 3-2.

England’s recent record ahead of ODI Tri-Series

Having said that, England are coming into this series after a successful white-ball series against Sri Lanka. They won the T20I series with a 3-0 finish and the ODI series by 2-1.

Hence, the team’s spirits will be high. While a few players are missing due to injuries and workload management, England still have the likes of Brook and Root to anchor the team.

On the other hand, Pakistan have also been in good form as they won the recent three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka 2-1. However, the upcoming tournament will be played in the ODI format, so the hosts will need to adapt to the longer format.
