Sri Lanka cricketer Bhanuka Rajapaksa has taken a legal action against young actress Harshi Rasanga. Rajapaksa has already sent a Letter of Demand (LOD) to her, claiming that she has presented different version of events over their legal dispute.
The entire issue stemmed from a gold chain, with conflicting claims over whether it was a gift from Rajapaksa or merely borrowed and subsequently pawned by the actress.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa sends legal notice to young Sri Lanka actress
Bhanuka Rajapaksa and his legal team has sent a legal notice to young Sri Lanka actress Harshi Rasanga. Rajapaksa’s legal team is alleging that the cricketer temporarily gave a gold chain worth Rs. 9 lakhs to her. However, Harshi pawned that gold chain without informing the Sri Lanka batter.

As it turned out, the actress subsequently posted a different version of the story on her social media, prompting Rajapaksa to take legal action against her.
Sri Lanka actress makes shocking U-turn after bail
Harshi Rasanga was arrested by the Thalangama Police and was presented before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court. Later, she was granted bail by the court on two sureties of Rs 500,000 each.
During the proceedings, the defence team of Harshi admitted that the gold chain was pawned without informing the cricketer, and she promised to make the arrangements in redeeming and returning it back to Bhanuka Rajapaksa.
However, the entire case took a shocking turn once Harshi was released on bail. In an explosive media statement, she said that the gold chain was “gifted” to her by the cricketer during their “personal relationship”.
Bhanuka is yet to respond to the actress’ explosive claims.
Next hearing set for THIS date
The Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court has instructed the Thalangama Police to take custody of the gold chain and represent it during the next hearing. The next hearing itself has been scheduled for April 22 later this month, as reported by Newswire.
In any case, the contradictory claims have added a fresh layer of intrigue to the ongoing legal battle between the two dazzling Sri Lankan personalities.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa in spotlight for wrong reasons
Bhanuka Rajapaksa continues to grab the media spotlight, albeit for all the wrong reasons. His fresh controversy with actress Harshi Rasanga aside, Rajapaksa also found himself at the receiving end of social media wrath from Indian cricket fans.
Earlier this year, the cricketer accused the Indian cricket team of ‘tampering with bats.’ Speaking during the earlier phase of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the hard-hitting Sri Lanka top-order batter said “Indian players have bats that are far superior to the best bats we get. It feels as though a layer of rubber has been applied. I can’t imagine how that’s possible. These bats can’t even be bought by others — all players know this.”
However, Rajapaksa later clarified his stance, claiming that he was only praising the Indian cricket team for making full use of their advanced system and infrastructure.
