On Sunday, India and England will lock horns for the 3rd and final ODI of the series. The two teams will square off at the Mecca of cricket, Lord’s. The series is levelled at 1-1, and India will be without their star all-rounder Washington Sundar.
For the unversed, Sundar pulled his hamstring in the 2nd ODI and didn’t even take the field in the 2nd innings. Several reports claimed that the 27-year-old will miss the 3rd ODI and has returned home for recovery. The board added that Sundar will seek a specialist to manage his injury.
BCCI Adds Harsh Dubey As Replacement
In the latest developments, the BCCI has officially announced that Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the England ODIs. Further, the board has called up Harsh Dubey to replace the GT star for the 3rd and final ODI.
“Harsh Dubey added to #TeamIndia's ODI squad as a replacement for injured Washington Sundar,” tweeted BCCI.
Harsh Dubey Set For 2nd India Series
Harsh Dubey rose to fame during IPL 2026 where the SRH spinner picked up 8 wickets in 8 matches. The fine performance led to Dubey's India selection for Afghanistan series.
The 23-year-old fell behind Manav Suthar in the pecking order during the one-off Test and spent the five days on the bench. However, the SRH spinner got his chance during the ODIs.

Dubey picked up a three wicket haul on his debut and eventually picked up 4 wickets in 2 innings against Afghanistan. The youngster was disheartened when he learnt he has been dropped for the ongoing Ireland and England tour.
However, Dubey now has a chance to impress the selectors once again if given another opportunity by the team management in the 3rd ODI at the Lord's.
No Opportunity For Ravindra Jadeja
Harsh Dubey's inclusion has also hinted that Ravindra Jadeja is no longer in BCCI or the selectors' plans for 2027 ODI World Cup. India are anyway short of all-rounders as Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, and Hardik Pandya are injured.
Yet, the management is not turning their eye towards Ravindra Jadeja. Notably, the Rajasthan Royals' star has not played a ODI for India since the New Zealand ODIs in January. It means that Axar Patel will be the first choice spin all-round option and there won't be any surprises if Jaddu misses out on the 15-member squad.
Interestingly, when the rumour mills for Rohit Sharma began that Lord's might be his last, a few reports also stated that the selectors have informed Jadeja as well that they have moved on from him.
