Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli are integral parts of Indian ODI setup | PC- AFPWhether Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will play in the ODI World Cup 2027 has become a million-dollar question in Indian Cricket. However, Mithun Manhas has answered the query in his capacity as the BCCI President. The two talismans have retired from Tests and T20Is, but are worth gold in the ODI format thanks to their experience and match-winning abilities. However, what may go against the experienced batting duo is that they are already in their late 30s. Mithun Manhas on Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma's availability for 2027 WCWhile speaking to Sportstar, the BCCI President, Mithun Manhas, stated that fitness and performance should be the criteria for selecting Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the World Cup 2027. However, the former Delhi cricketer also emphasised that the selectors and the coaches will have the final say. “As far as the BCCI is concerned, we are not in a position to comment because it all depends on the selectors and the coaches. But from how I look at it, fitness and performance should be the criteria for selection, and definitely not age,” Manhas stated.ALSO READVaibhav Sooryavanshi's Childhood Coach Goes Hammer And Tongs With Displeasure Over Indian Benching“If somebody is fit to play, and you see him performing and winning games for the country, that is the only criterion we should focus on.”Furthermore, Manhas also added that having players like Rohit, Virat and Hardik Pandya will only help captain Shubman Gill in a mega-event like the ODI World Cup 2027. “Having Virat, Hardik and Rohit in the side will definitely help him (Gill)," he added. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli still India's best bet for 2027 WCDespite being in the twilight of their cricketing careers, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli remain the biggest strengths of the Indian ODI team. The duo still do the bulk of the run-scoring, as seen in the recently concluded IND vs WI ODIs. Kohli opened the series with a century in Trivandrum, while Rohit scored 101 and 92 in the next two matches. With the ODI World Cup 2027 less than a year away, the BCCI won't gamble by looking past the experienced batters, especially with the marquee event to be played in testing conditions in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Nevertheless, the duo will next be seen in the five-match ODI series vs New Zealand, starting on November 4. ALSO READSri Lanka Test Squad Announced For Two-Match Series In Pakistan
