On Saturday, May 2, BCCI officials held a pres conference at the headquaters in Mumbai to release India Women’s 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup. During the presser, a reporter got hold of BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, who dropped a massive update on IPL 2026 playoff venues.
The 19th edition of IPL is midway through. The league stage will go on till May 24, with KKR taking on Delhi Capitals at the Eden Gardens. For the playoffs, the board is yet to reveal the venues. However, the wait is over, and Devajit Saikia has officially dropped a statement.
BCCI To Reveal IPL 2026 Playoff Venues In 2 Days
Speaking to the reporter, Devajit Saikia confirmed that the venues for IPL 2026 playoffs will be revealed in a couple of days. The 57-year-old refused to comment when asked whether Chinnaswamy Stadium will host the IPL 2026 final.
For the unversed, it is a ritual in IPL that the final is usually hosted at the defending champions’ home ground. Therefore, by that logic, Chinnaswamy Stadium should be the location for IPL 2026 final.
“BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia says venues for IPL Playoffs "will be finalised in two days". Quizzed on whether the convention of the last year's finalists hosting the Playoffs will be followed, Saikia said: "You can keep asking, but I will not say anything for now," read a tweet from Gaurav Gupta of Times Of India.
Mullanpur, Chinnaswamy Stadium Rumoured As Playoff Venues
Notably, before the start of the season, there were rumours that the Mullanpur Stadium in New Chandigarh, which is Punjab Kings' home ground might host the eliminator and qualifier.
Further, Chinnaswamy Stadium was touted to host the final and one of the playoff games. Further, in the ongoing season, these are the two stadiums, who will host no further matches. Therefore, the BCCI has ample amount of time to prepare these venues for the playoffs.

Also, for the unversed, for the last three IPL seasons, it has been the Narendra Modi Stadium which has hosted the final twice. There were murmurs that IPL 2026 final might see a new venue to avoid backlash.
List Of IPL Finals At the Chinnaswamy Stadium
Notably, the Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is in contention to host IPL 2026 final, has already hosted two finals before. In 2014 and 2016, the IPL final was held in Bengaluru.
Notably, KKR won the trophy back in 2014, while RCB suffered a shocking defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 IPL final.
