After the national cricket team boycotted playing in India, asking the ICC to relocate their matches to Sri Lanka, recent developments have revealed that the decision taken by the board was not unanimous. On the other hand, the minister for youth and sports has also declared whether any action will be taken against any individual for the non-participation or not.No punishment for guilty individuals in Bangladesh T20 World Cup 2026 boycottAccording to a report from UNB News, a Bangladeshi media house, the state minister for youth and sports, Aminul Haque, said the government will not take action against anyone over Bangladesh's decision not to participate in the ICC tournament. For the unaware, following Mustafizur Rahman's Kolkata Knight Riders boycott of IPL 2026, the Bangladesh cricket team felt that it would be unsafe to send its players to India to play in the tournament because of socio-religious threats. They then asked the apex council to relocate the matches, but the ICC immediately denied the request. This eventually led to the replacement of Bangladesh with Scotland. Now, months after the fiasco, Aminul Haque has said punishment might not solve all the problems that caused it.“Punishment alone cannot solve all the problems,” Aminul said at a press briefing on the government’s sports card at the Secretariat on Sunday. Also Read: Rishabh Pant Reveals Tactics That Helped Rest Of India Win Irani Cup 2026Bangladesh's non-participation in T20 WC was an individual decisionIn another interesting finding, the report claimed that Aminul Haque examined the investigation committee's findings to determine whether the decision was made because of an individual or his personal wishes.“But the investigation committee, in the report it presented, clearly tried to say that Bangladesh did not participate in the cricket World Cup because of an individual or his personal wishes,” he said.As a warning to the then Aminul Islam Bulbul-led BCB, before Tamim Iqbal, Haque said that the government had made it clear that, from now on, no individual would be allowed to make such a decision on behalf of the country in the future. “The country belongs to all of us. We have already sent the message that no individual should be allowed to make such a decision in the future,” Haque said. Also Read: Mustafizur Rahman Gets Bangladesh Head Coach’s Backing After Dismal Asian Games Show
