Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has once again found himself in the news, not just for cricket but also for his personal life. Recently, reports have suggested that Babar Azam’s marriage is likely on the cards. 

However, there seems to be a difference of opinion between him and his family regarding his choice of partner. While his family reportedly wants him to marry within the family, Babar is said to prefer marrying someone else.

Babar Azam's marriage news creates buzz

At the same time, this news has come when Babar is going through a difficult phase in his cricket career, especially during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL 2025-26).

Currently, Babar Azam is playing for the Sydney Sixers in the BBL. Unfortunately, his performance has not been up to the mark. He has scored 131 runs in six innings, with an average of 26.20 and a strike rate of 111.97. As a result, fans and experts have raised concerns about his form.

Moreover, many believe that off-field issues could be affecting his on-field performance. This has further added to the discussion around his mental state and personal life.

Pakistan journalist links family issues to mental stress

In a recent interview on the PakPassion YouTube channel, Pakistan journalist Shahid Hashmi spoke openly about Babar Azam’s situation. He suggested that the cricketer might be under mental stress due to family disagreements over marriage.

“He has some problems. I think maybe mental problems, maybe some family problems, because we have been hearing a lot of stories that his marriage is very much on the cards,” Hashmi said. “His family, his father and mother, want him to marry his cousin. He wants to marry someone else.”

He further added, “If these rumors are to be believed, if these reports are to be believed, maybe this problem is causing some mental issues. That’s why he’s not getting out to good balls or good bowlers, but getting out playing loose shots himself.”

Due to this, many fans feel that personal pressure might be affecting Babar’s focus and decision-making on the field.

Babar Azam often linked with actresses

Over the years, Babar Azam has often been linked with several actresses and public figures. Earlier, his name was associated with actress Hania Aamir. More recently, model and social media influencer Dua Zahra openly spoke about her admiration and love for him last year.

However, Babar has clearly denied any romantic link-ups. Despite this, fans have remained curious about his wedding plans for a long time.

Babar Azam likely to be included in Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad

Meanwhile, Babar Azam was left out of Pakistan’s Sri Lanka T20I series, due to BBL commitments. It is worth mentioning that there is a strong chance that he could be included in Pakistan’s 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026.

As per reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board has already submitted a provisional 20-player squad to the ICC. The squad includes Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Shadab Khan, while Mohammad Rizwan has reportedly been left out. Head coach Mike Hesson will soon finalize the 15-member team.

Notably, Babar Azam will be seen in action today against the Melbourne Stars at East Melbourne on January 8, where fans will hope to see him bounce back both mentally and professionally.
