That's it from us for the first game. Do switch tabs for the second game tonight as the Chepauk Super Gillies lock horns against the Dindigul Dragons. I'm Akshay Bhide signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Kingshuk Kusari and Arjun Bhalla. Bye bye.
Rahil Shah | Winning Captain | Man of the Match: We are still the underdogs, every game we go we are the underdogs, 4 wins out of 6 but we will take this. First time we have won back-to-back games. We have won 1-3-5, but this time it's back-to-back and that's good to see. It's a good bunch of lads, I'm sharing my experiences and I'm enjoying captaining them.
Rahil Shah is the Man of the Match for his brilliant spell of 1/16 in four overs and two catches.
Ferrario | Losing Captain: It is pretty frustrating at how we bowled in trying to defend the low score. No words. I don't know what to say about the batting. The wicket was a good one. We would like to win the last two games and always good to have a positive attitude.
Time for the presentation.
Akshay: Earlier in the day, Ruby Trichy Warriors skipper Rahil Shah won the toss and opted to bowl first. The decision paid off as the bowlers stepped up. There was a hint of movement up front and it helped the Warriors. The Spartans batsmen were kept quiet as none of the batsmen got going in the innings. Murugan Ashwin was the top scorer for them with 21 as they managed to score only 116 runs in their 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets. All six Warriors bowlers picked at least a wicket as Poiyamozhi and Saravan Kumar finished with two each. The spinners in Rahil Shah and Mathivanan bowled economical spells as the Spartans kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The total wasn’t enough in the end as the Warriors chased down with 9 balls to spare.
Akshay: 117 wasn’t going to be a challenging total to chase for the in-form Warriors. The openers in Shiv and Sathvik started cautiously but in the fifth over, both of them departed in consecutive balls. This instilled a belief in Spartans. Adnan Khan departed early in the innings as they suddenly lost three wickets in the eight over. Nidhish Rajagopal along with Ganesh led the recovery for the Warriors until the former was dismissed in the 12th over. Antony Dhas joined Ganesh and stitched a brilliant partnership as they both ensured that there were no more jitters in the chase. Both remained unbeaten as they take their team across the line.
Akshay: A clinical performance from the Ruby Trichy Warriors as they go past the Salem Spartans in the penultimate over. They chase down 117 with ease as they go at the top of the table. Spartans on the other hand continue to be at the bottom of the table and will need a miracle to finish in the top-four. The partnership between Adithya Ganesh and Antony Dhas was crucial for the Warriors as they beat Spartans by 6 wickets.
18.3 Ferrario to A Dhas
6 Convincing shot to grab a convincing victory for Trichy Warriors. Slower through the air, full length delivery and Dhas slaps the ball through wide long on for a big six to finish the game. Trichy continue their momentum and Salem are practically out of the tournament.
18.2 Ferrario to A Dhas
0 Slower through the air, Dhas goes for the shot but leaves at the last moment. Ball turned big from wide off the tramline there.
