Anurag Singh: That's it from the comm box, very good night folks. Hope you enjoyed the live coverage and see you tomorrow for the doubleheader. Take care!!
Wahab Riaz: The way the boys started wasn't good but Akmal and Miller kept us in the match. Irfan has shown attitude and intent and he is one of the best bowlers in the world. It's very hard to bowl three overs like that, he's a great guy. It's a great win to have and we are looking at the matches one by one hoping to make it into the playoffs.
David Miller: It was an enjoyable innings at the end which started very rusty. The team needed to build a partnership and I took my time and kickstarted my innings with a six. Once I got my momentum going, I was confident enough to clear any boundary. We got through the powerplay with the little or no damage and built a partnership with Akmal which paid off well.
David Millers gets the Man of the Match award and a cheque of PKR 750,000.
Quetta Gladiators tournament is almost over now. The Gladiators can get to at most eight points now, with a highly improbable chance of making it into the playoffs.
Gladiators started off on the right note as the two openers went after the bowler without losing any wicket. From 54/0 after 7 overs, it all went downhill when Shoaib Malik was brought into the attack. He scalped Usman and then the wickets started to tumble. Irfan who went for 16 runs in his second over came back into the attack for his final over and struck three wickets in one over, turning the game on its head. No batsman got set and kept going as the required run-rate kept on increasing after every dot ball. The task got impossible when Umaid Asif came into the attack and picked two wickets off his first two deliveries and suddenly Quetta were 85/6 and there was no recovering back from there. The skipper and Shahzad at the crease went on the backfoot and the required run rate went over 19 in the last 5 overs. Sarfaraz and co showed little or no intent on chasing the mammoth total. Wahab Riaz back in the penultimate over picked up another two wickets as Quetta finished the innings on 136/9 in 20 overs falling short by 61 runs.
Peshawar Zalmi managed to post a massive first innings total. Kamran Akmal and David Miller were the pioneers of setting such a target as they had a fantastic partnership for the third wicket. They were 10 for 2 in the third over before Miller and Akmal added 125 in 12 overs to set the tone. Both of them scored fifties and Powell gave the finishing touch to the innings with his cameo of 43 not out of just 19 deliveries. Quetta Gladiators bowled well in patches, but they struggled mainly due to the dew. Zahid Mahmood had an awful day as he conceded 53 runs in his three overs. Apart from Khurram Shahzad, no other bowler had a good day at the office as Zalmi capped their innings on 197 for 5. With Faf du Plessis already out of the contest, the target seemed an uphill task for the Gladiators.
