On that note, it is time to wrap up our coverage for this fixture. This is Darpan Tikiya, Ajay Pal Singh, Manan Mehta, Aman and Paras Yadav saying goodbye. See you soon! 👋
The next assignment for both teams is the ODI tri-series that begins on Sunday, October 18, at the same venue. That 7-match tournament will also feature England. Of course, Team CREX will be here to ensure that you do not miss a beat.
In the context of the series, it might only be a consolation win, but given that they only had 2 in this format since the end of the last T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka will cherish it. They lose the series 2-1 but will take some confidence from this result heading into the ODIs. Meanwhile, Pakistan will definitely be the happier of the two teams with the way things panned out in the T20Is. Under Sahibzada Farhan's leadership, they now seem to have gathered a young core that could go a long way.
10:33 PM IST, 10:03 PM local time: Sahibzada Farhan collects the trophy and then, calls upon his mates to pose for the winner's photograph.
Sahibzada Farhan (POTS & Pakistan Captain): "[Not enough runs on the board?] Yes, the way we played well in the last two games, we came with the same mindset but in cricket this happens. The way Maaz was unlucky, all the responsibility came onto me and I decided to take the game deep.

[On the middle-order and his partnership with Arafat Minhas] See, based on one match, you can't judge anyone. But, still at one stage, it felt like we can get to 180 but because of the partnership with Minhas, we got to 170.

[On his own form and performances] Yes, I try to remain consistent. I try to focus more in the next game after performing. Cricket is such a game that you don't get such form all the time, trying to make the best out of it.

[On bowling] The way Randhawa bowled, he impressed us a lot with the new ball. The way Naseem Shah bowled, he was rested today but still, as a captain, I am happy."
Player of the Series: Sahibzada Farhan
Kusal Mendis (POTM & Sri Lanka Captain): "[On the win today] I think that last two games we've had little positive things. We bowled in good areas and our couple of spinners bowled well and Lahiru Udara batted well in first game. Today we bowled really well in the middle period. Fielding side did little bit okay. We batted really well in the second innings.

[On him and Kamindu Mendis guiding the chase] Kamindu batted really well after the powerplay. He played his normal game. I also played my normal game. Openers, Sineth batted well in powerplay. Overall, today we did well in all three parts. Fielding, batting and bowling, all three were good.

[How much does a series win in T20I cricket help give confidence before the ODIs?] We have to adapt to conditions. There's little bit dew in the night some days, not every day. A couple of players are changed in the one-day side. We have strength in the one-day side and some senior players also. I hope the guys play well going forward and we did really well in England also. Everybody is in good form, and I hope going forward we do a good job."
