Well that's all for today folks! This is Anirudh Modi, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee, and our scorer/analyst Raju Khairya! It was our pleasure to bring you this game LIVE! See you on the next one!
Hamish Rutherford (Otago Volts Captain): "Happy with the win and there were nerves, I was not in the dressing room, but we were always one hit away from the win. I think we did well with the ball, and struggled with the bat but managed to get the win. It was amazing to see the boys show character out there. I am happy with the win and I think the Ford and Super Smash together is keeping us fit. Yes, looking forward to the next game as we need to keep on winning here."
Peter Younghusband (Wellington Firebirds Captain): "Being 5 down was not ideal. Did well to get us to 120. Troy was good to give us something to bowl at. I think the fight we showed was great to see. I am happy with the grit and determination that we showed there. I think next week will be important and hope to improve our batting performance."
Michael Rae (Gamechanger of the Match):"Yes, it gets two to tango and I am happy with the performance today. Happy to contribute. I am having fun in my cricket. It's been a mixed bag and I am happy with today's performance. Happy to come out of covid and do well for the team. Happy to win and step upto the plate for my side."

Wellington Firebirds won the toss and elected to bat first, the decision backfired in a major way. The Otago bowlers came out all guns blazing as they ran through the top order of the Wellington Firebirds to leave them reeling at 23/5 after 5.1 overs! Things didn't improve much after that as they lost the 6th wicket with just 38 on the scoreboard.
However, a crucial 54 run stand between Johnson and Milne ensured the Firebirds clawed their way to a total of 120/8 from their 20 overs. Johnson went onto score a total of 57 runs off 48 balls, while Rae was the pick of the bowlers with the figures of 3/18 from his 4 overs.
Come the chase, the Wellington Firebirds showed a hunger for a fightback as they dismissed Phillips for a golden duck. However, the game never looked out of reach for the Otago Volts as unlike their opponents, their batters came in and go starts to continue chipping away at the low target.
Foxcraft top scored for his side with 26 runs off 25 balls, while Smith was the pick of the bowlers for Wellington Firebirds with the figures of 2/19 from his 3.2 overs.

Wellington Firebirds have a lot to think about with respect to their batting, will they bounce back in the next game? Only time will tell us! Post Match presentation ceremony coming up, stay tuned!
19.2 N Smith to L Johnson
4 FOUR! That's the end of the game! Length ball and in the slot, Johnson goes down the ground over the bowler's head as the ball races away straight as an arrow to the long-on fence. So, Johnson hits the winning runs as the Otago Volts win this game by 5 wickets with 4 balls left to notch up 2 important points here.
19.1 N Smith to L Johnson
0 Nathan Smith will bowl the final over of the game. Short of a length bouncer, Johnson goes for the pull and misses it to the keeper.
