For now, it is Soumarya Dutta signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Mohammad Anab, Abhishek Sharma and Manan Mehta alongside our Scorer/Analyst Yogesh Kumar. See you soon!
We will have a bit of a gap before the next One Day Cup fixture as the next round of games are scheduled in November but there is plenty of other cricket happening. Stay tuned at CREX and continue to follow our live coverage to stay updated regarding latest course of action across various games.
New South Wales have registered an absolutely thumping win over Western Australia and with that they've climbed up in the points table. It is a sorry state of affairs for Western Australia as they remain at the bottom of table. They will have to find a way to get back to winning ways. Spare of thought for Sam Whiteman though as his brilliant hundred got overshadowed due to the loss of his side.
Player of the Match: Sam Konstas
6:53 PM IST, 9:23 PM Local Time: New South Wales win by 78 runs! New South Wales have conquered the WACA and have notched up an important win to keep the flame burning brightly in their 2026 One-Day Cup campaign. You have to feel for Sam Whiteman. He brought up a magnificent century but just ran out of partners. Had he got the support, the result could well have been different.
New South Wales won the toss earlier in the day and elected to bat first. Sam Konstas was the star of the first innings and brought his good red ball form into white ball cricket. He notched up a brilliant 149 off 131 balls to set the game up for his side. Around him valuable knocks of 51 from Josh Philippe and 40s from Lachlan Shaw and Jack Edwards pushed the team score to 371/8 in 50 overs. Mahli Beardman (2/85) and Ashton Agar (2/60) regardless of being expensive were the prime wicket-takers of the innings.
The chase required a couple of big knocks from the senior members. However, it turned out to be a one man show for most of it and that one man eventually ran out of fuel. Sam Whiteman scored a marathon-like 116 off 113 balls. However, there wasn't great support around him. Openers Joel Curtis (14) and Cameron Bancroft (25) were knocked over in the powerplay. Ashton Turner (41) and Ashton Agar (43) did show some fight; however, they could not carry on for long and left Whiteman alone with too much to do in the end. The rest of the batting line up failed to get out of single digits. With the short ploy being the primary source of wickets, Jack Nisbet scrapped three and Bryce Jackson got two to his name. The rest of the bowlers got one wicket each.
