Rain threatened to play spoilsport in Sydney, but cricket emerged as the ultimate winner. Will Prestwidge's all-round show, backed by Ben McDermott's crucial knock, powered Tasmania past the 200-run mark. Rafael MacMillan's three-wicket haul, along with wickets from each of the other five bowlers used, helped Tasmania bowl out NSW for 158.
Player of the Match: Will Prestwidge
11:46 AM IST, 5:16 PM Local Time: Tasmania Tigers roared their way to a 57-run victory over New South Wales in this rain-hit contest. The match was reduced to 30 overs per side due to rain, but the revised target of 216 proved too much for New South Wales. Superb bowling from Raf MacMillan and Tom Rogers helped the Tigers bowl out their opponents for 158.
New South Wales won the toss and opted to bowl. The match was halted after four overs due to rain. Play resumed after a delay of almost two hours, with the contest reduced to 39 overs per side. However, rain returned after nine overs, and following another delay of more than an hour, the match was further reduced to 30 overs per side. Tasmania failed to bat out their full quota of overs and were bowled out for 203 in 29.1 overs.
Will Prestwidge scored a half-century, while Ben McDermott (42) also contributed well with the bat. Jake Scott bagged three wickets. The revised target was 216 for NSW and they started well, taking 10 runs off the first over. However, they lost Oliver Davies in the 2nd over and that started a collapse. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 158 in 26 overs. Rafael MacMillan bagged three wickets, helping Tasmania win by 57 runs.
