USA won the toss and elected to bowl first! Nepal's openers put on a solid show in the powerplay to register 50/1 at the end of the first 6 overs. Post powerplay, captain Rohit Paudel ensured he stayed till the end, building crucial partnerships and missing out on his half-century by a single run, eventually scoring 49 runs off 33 balls to help his team establish a score of 164/9 at the end of their 20 overs.
Harmeet Singh was the pick of the bowlers for his figures of 2/18 from 4 overs.
Come the chase, Nepal came out all guns blazing and troubled the USA top order with some great bowling to pick up 3 wickets in the powerplay! Andries Gous looked to have things in control until Gulshan Jha dismissed him off his first delivery to send him packing for 30 runs off 25 balls.
Milind Kumar and Shayan Jahangir picked up the mantle and put on a 38 run-stand for the 5th wicket but Airee made sure things stayed in Nepal's favour by picking up 2 wickets in his first 2 balls by dismissing Milind Kumar and Harmeet Singh.
Post that, the scoreboard pressure and with only 4 wickets in hand, USA found it difficult to maintain the scoring rate required to chase this target down. Shayan Jahangir was the top scorer with unbeaten 60 runs off 34 balls but Nepal's bowling attack was on their toes to seal the victory by runs and take a 1-0 lead in the 3 match series!
