After a long wait, the play has been called off.
Arriving for their respective final matches of the league stages, the Otago Brave won the toss and elected to field first. Despite a boundary off the first ball, Andrew Hazeldine was smart enough to get rid of Katene Clark in the next delivery. The gamble to promote Scott Kuggeleijn up the batting order turned out to be a failure in no time after Jacob Duffy rushed him to play a false stroke from the other end. Hazeldine and Ben Lockrose were tight with their line and length and eventually wickets fell in clusters for the Northern Brave. Amidst the halt in play due to rain, the scoreboard read 36/5 after 7.2 overs when the showers returned for a third time to halt play.
