South Zone will feature at the MA Chidambaram Stadium against East Zone in the grand finale scheduled to commence on Sunday, September 6. Tilak Varma playing the captain's role to perfection and leading from example in the semis with two unbeaten knocks - a ton and then a half century in the chase.

Tilak Varma starring for South with an unbeaten ton in the first innings and now an unbeaten half century as the side chases down 181 in just 43.1 overs in the afternoon session on day 4.
Quick recap to the fixture as North Zone won the toss and elected to bat first and posted just 195 on the board. Qamran Iqbal top scored with 76 at the top of the order. Vidwath Kaverappa picked up 4/66 for South Zone.
Varma led the South Zone charge with the bat hitting an unbeaten 116, grinding for 250 balls and hit 9 fours. Shreyas Gopal hit 87 to help South get 312 - an important lead of 117 runs. Right arm pacer Gurnoor Brar who recently made his India debut picked up 4/88.
North had a better outing with the bat in the 2nd innings with 297 on the board. Sanat Sangwan scored 76, Ayush Doseja 52. Nishant Sindhu (35*) and Anshul Kamboj (36) added important 60 runs for the 8th wicket extending the lead to 180 runs.
MD Nidheesh cleaned up the tail with the last 3 wickets and finished with 5/56. Kavuri Saiteja and Shreyas Gopal claimed a couple of wickets apiece with Vidwath Kaverappa picking up Doseja's breakthrough.
South Zone got off to a good start with Ricky Bhui (42) and Narayan Jagadeesan (43) adding 64 for the first wicket before Bhui was dismissed by Brar. Left arm spinner Abid Mushtaq dismissed Shaik Rasheed for 1, Tilak Varma and Smaran Ravichandran then formed a formidable pair in the middle and added 80 runs unbeaten for the 4th wicket to take South Zone to the finals.
Varma finished unbeaten on 51, Smaran on 32. Abid Mushtaq picked up 2/55 and Gurnoor Brar collected one wicket. North Zone used 8 bowlers in the 2nd innings but the openers and then Varma and Smaran ensured the game was already in South's pocket.
