The fourth game of the day is coming up shortly. For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off along with my colleagues Deepak Prakash and Sachin Yadav. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYE
Kieron Pollard and Nicholas Pooran begin their campaign with a win, while Andre Russell starts his campaign on the losing side. A 16-run victory for the Toronto Sixers.
Kieron Pollard (Toronto Sixers Captain): "(Win to kickstart the campaign) Yeah, of course. Obviously, having to bat first, not knowing what would be a good total. I just thought that the we adapted well.

(Bowling and fielding displays) Yeah, we spoke about it with the guys. We wanted to understand the lengths we have to bowl. Yes, we will be hit for sixes as the boundaries are pretty short. Very interesting sort of boundaries. We kept picking up wickets which was a good sign.

(On playing here at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver) Ah, it's fantastic. First time for me here in Vancouver. Good to see that the competition is growing and I hope it continues to grow. Hope the entertainment continues to grow as well.

(On the surface) Yeah, good pace, bounce and carry. It's something we have to play on. Looking forward to tomorrow's game."
Andre Russell (Montreal Royal Tigers Captain): "[How do you assess that game?] Oh yeah, it was a tough one. I think, after that start, I was expecting us to kind of skittle them out for maybe 70 or 80. But then, you know, we dropped Pooran and paid the price for it. So, in situations like these, we just have to make sure we take our chances. You can't afford to drop good players.

[What about the surface?] Yeah, I think once you stick to your task and keep hitting that wicket, the batters don't know what's coming. Then there is this delivery where I deliver at the same pace, but it pulls a bit. I think that change of pace can really unsettle batters. I bowl with a bit of pace as well, but batting on this surface just gives you an extra challenge. And with such a small ground, I think the wicket needs to offer something to make it more interesting.

[On top order] Yeah, I think we lost a few early wickets and some key players, including myself. Looking back at how the game unfolded, I feel that if I had stuck around a bit longer, maybe for another two or three overs, we would definitely have got the runs because I would have kept going. Udana came in and did really well, so credit to him. I think it just goes to show the depth we have in our batting. If our top order can stick around a bit longer, we definitely have the batting to chase whatever total is set."
Player of the Match: Nicholas Pooran
9:32 AM IST & 9:02 PM Local Time: A comprehensive victory for Toronto Sixers as they begin their campaign in style, defeating Montreal Royal Tigers by 16 runs.

After being asked to bat first, Toronto Sixers endured a disastrous start as both openers, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Will Smeed, were dismissed for ducks. Nicholas Pooran stood out with the bat, making the opposition pay after being dropped once. The West Indian smashed 64 off 33 balls, including 3 fours and 7 sixes, as the Sixers finished on 109/7 from their 10 overs. Isuru Udana (2/6) and Scott Kuggeleijn (2/18) picked up two wickets each.

In reply, Montreal Royal Tigers also struggled for momentum despite a quickfire 21 off 8 balls from Toby Albert. The top order failed to fire, with Albert the only batter among the top five to reach double figures. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals, leaving the Tigers reeling at 36/5 and with a mountain to climb.

The Tigers never really found any momentum in their chase, with only three batters managing double-digit scores. Isuru Udana provided some resistance down the order with an unbeaten 30 off 14 balls, but lacked support at the other end. Montreal Royal Tigers were eventually restricted to 94/9, falling short by 16 runs. Daniel Sams was the pick of the bowlers for the Sixers, finishing with 3/11.
