That's all for this game. Switch tabs for the live coverage of the second BBL match of the day between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers. This is me, Anurag Dasgupta, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators, Akshaya and Karthik.
Peter Hatzoglou | Man of the Match: "Credit should be given to Ash Turner, Agar and the other bowlers who helped me a lot. I've played grade cricket in Melbourne, so had a fair bit of idea on what these new lads can do. There's always pressure in a Big Bash match, different level of nervousness in different games. I always have a discussion with my seniors and that gives me a lot of confidence."
That's the end of the game and Scorchers have won this one-sided contest by a whopping 50 runs. Prior to the match, Stars were rocked on the back-foot (Due to the number of covid cases) and everyone expected Scorchers to roll over them. It was a walk in the park for the table toppers who had a near perfect outing against a depleted Stars side.

Chasing a tricky 181 on the board, Stars came out all guns blazing. They made their intentions clear inside the first 6-overs and Joe Clarke led the charge for them. The surface was a belter to bat on and the pitch hardly had any demons and the opening duo capitalised on it. Joe Clarke and Tom Rogers added 78 for the first wicket and laid the foundation for the middle order to take advantage of.

However, once Joe Clarke departed for a well compiled 32-ball 52, the tables turned and Scorchers saw a small ray of hope. They kept their cool and kept on chipping in with wickets at regular intervals. Rogers threw his wicket away and so did skipper Glenn Maxwell. Scorchers tightened the screws in the middle overs and this is where the game changed for them. The scoreboard pressure took a toll on the Melbourne Stars and eventually they were bundled out for 130 on the board
18.5 T Mills to B Couch
W Big shout for lbw and the umpire says you are out! It was all too easy for the Scorchers and Mills bags his third wicket of the day. This one comes back in with the angle and does the trick for Mills. Good length delivery and Couch misses the connection on his flick. The ball fizzes past his bat and cops a blow on the front leg. That was dead plumb..
18.4 T Mills to B Couch
0 Slower, shorter and wide of off. Couch goes for a cut and gets beaten all ends up..
