Kingshuk: So that is it from our side today. This is me signing off for the day along with my colleagues Akshay Bhide and Abhishek Singh hoping to bring you a more cricketing action throughout the course of this year. A very happy new year to you guys and have a blast over this long weekend.
Kingshuk: Earlier in the day, Shaun Marsh's effort helped Renegades to post a decent total and save them from embarrassment once again. They came out with positive intent tonight, something that they should be hailed for, but as it would turn out that Lady Luck is just not at their side at the moment. With the loss Renegades maintain their position at the bottom of the league after losing four in a row with just 4 points from 5 matches, while Thunder once again confirmed that they are a solid side who have the capability to clinch the title this year.
Kingshuk: It's a shame that this game has come to a premature conclusion. It could have been a great watch in the final overs if the conditions would have allowed the match to keep going. Usman Khawaja and Alex Hales were the difference between the two sides, maybe more Hales, whose whirlwind innings of 45 off just 19 balls provided Thunder the momentum in the chase. A couple of exceptional catches in the game today got overshadowed by the rain on a day where Thunder won their 5th consecutive game to go to the top of the table in the KFC Big Bash League.
Abhishek: Hindsight is a nice concept I must say. In hindsight, what if Marsh played a bit more...what if Nabi hit a few more of those sixes...what if one of the leading edges of Khawaja got into the hands of one of the close-in fielders...well I am saying all this from the gades' perspective...they have now lost four in a row
Akshay: So the rain has the final say tonight. The rain is pouring down at the Gold Coast and Sydney Thunder beat Melbourne Renegades by 7 runs.
Abhishek: Exactly Akshay...the interpretation that people would usually make about what the captain is speaking to the bowlers would now be revealed first hand..how exciting
Akshay: Absolutely Abhishek. It gives the viewers a deep knowledge of what's going on in the middle. Also we are able to get what's going on in the skipper's mind in these pressure situations.
Kingshuk: So the DLS par is 110 and Thunder at the moment are at 117. The more overs we lose, the tougher it becomes for Finch and Renegades.
Abhishek: I am excited about this miking up of the skipper and the way they are talking to their players...what are your suggestions for implementing it in the IPL...wouldn't it take the coverage one notch above Akshay?
