So that's all from us today. This is Nikhil Kulkarni signing off along with my colleagues Akshay Bhide and Vikhyat Jain. Stay Safe and Take Care!
Melbourne Stars will be disappointed with the loss. They were in the game till the end but were undone by a brilliant batting effort from Harvey. They did win the Bash Boost point! and are placed at the 3rd position in the points table. They couldn't get a big score today batting first. Fletcher was dismissed early. Stoinis started well and scored a quickfire 37. They lost quick wickets in the middle and couldn't build on the good start. Luckily, Nick Larkin was holding at the other end and remained unbeaten on 61 off 47 balls to take the score to 158. They are still in the playoff race and will have to win their next games.
It was not a big total to chase but Renegades didn't start well. Shaun Marsh was deceived by a brilliant off-cutter from Nathan Coulter-Nile which Marsh failed to pick and got out. Finch was unlucky to get bowled down the leg stump. He tried to sweep one but the ball hit the thigh pad and went back to hit the stumps. Sam Harper played well in the middle and scored 39 off 34 balls. Mackenzie Harvey walked into bat and made a statement to Stars that the chase was not done yet. He played proper cricket shots and took the game away from Stars with his magnificent batting.
Phew! What a game! Melbourne Renegades win by 5 wickets! Just when Melbourne Stars thought they had the game in control, Mackenzie Harvey came into bat at No 6 and changed the course of the game. He took the power surge immediately and played some exquisite shots to put the pressure back on Melbourne Stars. Beau Webster gave him good company at the end and he pinched in with some important boundaries at the end to clinch this thriller.
Mackenzie Harvey is the man of the match!
19.4 Liam Hatcher to Beau Webster
4 FOUR!!!! Take a Bow Webster. Take a Bow Harvey. What an incredible comeback by the Renegades to defeat Stars. In the slot on the stumps, Webster stands still and heaves this over mid wicket for a boundary. They beat Stars by 5 wickets
19.3 Liam Hatcher to Mackenzie Harvey
1 Full on the stumps, Harvey drives it straight to Maxwell at mid off and scampers across for a run. Dives in the end to get in although Maxwell misses the throw.
19.2 Liam Hatcher to Beau Webster
1 A low full on leg stump, Webster works it to long on for a single. 4 required from 4 now...
19.1 Liam Hatcher to Mackenzie Harvey
1 In the slot on middle from around the wicket, Harvey swings at it and gets an inside edge to deep square leg for a run
Nikhil: This is some incredible hitting from both the batsmen. Renegades now need just 6 runs off 6 balls. What a game this has been.
