Milestone
Washington Freedom's dominance continues in this MLC and they are the first team to qualify for the playoffs. Time to wrap up this coverage, folks! For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of co-commentator, Ayan Chatterjee and scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur. CHEERS!
Steve Smith (Washington Freedom Captain): "I thought Travis started really well, considering the tough conditions with the new ball being a bit stoppy. They seemed defensive against him early on, and he capitalized on that. Gous played well in the middle, and Rachin had a good cameo towards the end. With the ball, Marco set the tone early, and Jasdeep was outstanding in his first game.

I thought that was a pretty good total on this wicket, considering the dimensions of this ground. If we could control the powerplay, not let them get too far ahead, ideally take some wickets, and defend that longer side effectively, we'd have a good chance. I thought the bowlers did a really good job today, taking plenty of wickets early on and putting pressure on them.

Marco bowls at his best when he's charging in. He had an amazing zip and set the tone today. Jas was nervous but performed well. We've achieved our first objective, but winning is a habit, so we need to continue building towards the end to play our best cricket. So it's about to be really enjoyable. The Guys have played really well and hopefully, we can keep it up well."
Kieron Pollard (MI New York Captain): "I think we were decent with the ball. Head got some runs and got off to a flier. We did well in the powerplay and then slipped and then pulled back and then too many runs in the end. Happy with the bowling department.

Batting was atrocious to say the least in the powerplay and I take responsibility for it and have to accept this. It was a failure on our part.

From now on, we have to improve as we are in must-win territory. Any other failure we have to accept it and move on. Thank you and see you in a couple of nights."
Jasdeep Singh (Most Valuable Player Of the Match): "Honestly speaking, you know, two weeks ago when the Major League started, I was a bit disappointed not to be here. I had completely turned off my mind, thinking, "Okay, so be it. If it's not this year, maybe next year." But yeah, all I want to say is that this is all God's plan. I see it as God's gift to me, and it's better to say this is my gift back to God.

I'm completely grateful to be here. I just tried to keep it simple. I had a chat with our coaching unit. The idea was to hit the right lengths and mix in some bouncers, considering one side of the field was bigger.

I had a bit of nerves coming in as Saurabh's replacement; he has been terrific, and there was pressure to live up to expectations. These guys, especially Lockie and Smudge (Steve Smith), have been very welcoming. I've never felt like I'm walking into a game alone, and those things make a big difference."
Most Valuable Player: Jasdeep Singh.
Play of the Day: Rachin Ravindra.
Power Hitter of the Day: Andries Gous (322 feet).
