That's all from our coverage, folks! Thanks for staying with us for all the updates. For now, it's me, Deepak Prakash, signing off from this space along with my colleagues, Rajarshi Das and Bishal Mandal. CHEERS!
The Group Stage of the Asian Games 2026 has come to an end, with Nepal and Afghanistan qualifying for the quarter-finals from Group A, while Malaysia and Hong Kong progress from Group B. Pakistan will face Hong Kong in the first quarter-final on September 28 at 5:30 AM IST (9:00 AM Local Time), followed by India against Afghanistan at 10:00 AM IST (1:30 PM Local Time). On September 29, Sri Lanka will take on Nepal at 5:30 AM IST (9:00 AM Local Time), while Bangladesh will face Malaysia at 10:00 AM IST (1:30 PM Local Time).
11:54 AM IST, 3:24 PM Local Time: Rain had the last laugh today in both matches, with the second match abandoned without a toss. Both teams share a point, while Malaysia qualify for the quarter-finals from Group B alongside Hong Kong. Oman have been eliminated.
11:52 AM IST, 3:22 PM Local Time: Bad news, folks! The match between Malaysia and Oman has been abandoned due to bad weather, and both teams share one point each.
10:58 AM IST, 2:28 PM Local Time: Okay, we have some encouraging news. The rain seems to have eased, and the ground staff have begun peeling the covers off, one by one.
10:51 AM IST, 2:21 PM Local Time: The visuals from the ground remain the same - in fact, almost the entire outfield is under white tarpaulin sheets now. It is still raining, and judging by the overhead conditions, we might be in for a longer delay.
10:21 AM IST, 1:51 PM Local Time: The live visuals show that the rain is persistent and the entire square is under covers.
10:12 AM IST, 1:42 PM Local Time: The rain has not relented yet, and so, the toss has been delayed.
The previous game, a Group A fixture between Nepal and Japan, was washed out due to persistent rain. In what was already a curtailed game, Nepal, batting first, got to 149 in the allotted 15 overs before the rain Gods had the final say, knocking the hosts out. Oman, currently placed third in Group B, will be hoping that the rain eases out completely and they get a full game. Oman need to win big to go past Hong Kong, who are currently second in the table with two points and a Net Run Rate of -0.075.

It'll be interesting to see whether we get a full game. Malaysia, on the other hand, are top of the table, and are set for a quarter-final clash against Bangladesh. Can they get the job done today and go into the quarter-final clash with momentum under their wings? Let's find out!
