If there was one player who quietly owned this contest, it was Sophie Molineux. First, she ripped through London's top order with remarkable figures of 3 for just 7 from 20 balls. Then she returned to contribute 23 with the bat during the chase. Sarah Glenn (2 wickets) and Tilly Corteen-Coleman (2 wickets) backed her up perfectly, while Kapp's excellent all-round display and Nadine de Klerk's fighting knock kept Spirit alive far longer than many expected. Sometimes effort earns applause. Sometimes excellence earns the points.

9:44 PM IST, 5:14 PM LOCAL TIME: The sweetest victories are the ones that somehow manage to have both loudness and scrappiness. Southern Brave Women won't care how pretty it looked towards the end. They'll happily take the two points. Chasing 115, they crossed the line at 115/5 in 93 balls, winning by five wickets with seven balls to spare at Lord's. London Spirit had fought hard to drag themselves to 114/8 after a disastrous start, thanks to Marizanne Kapp and Nadine de Klerk. They even managed to create a few late nerves with wickets in the chase. But the target always felt just a touch too small. Brave stumbled. Regrouped. And found a way home.
Let's rewind a bit...
If the toss was Southern Brave's first win, the Powerplay was their second. Sophie Molineux produced a captain's spell that deserved its own highlight reel. After Grace Harris survived an umpire's call DRS review off the very first ball, Molineux struck twice in the same set, removing Amy Jones for 3 on ball 12 and Marie Kelly for a two-ball duck just two deliveries later. London Spirit crawled to 22/2 after the first 25 balls, with the scoreboard moving about as quickly as the Lord's members queue on a busy afternoon. Grace Harris and Marizanne Kapp simply had one job left - SURVIVE.
They did more than that. At least for a while. Harris added a few boundaries before Sarah Glenn tempted her into finding Maia Bouchier at long-on for 16 off 13 on ball 34. Ten balls later, Glenn struck again, trapping Sterre Kalis LBW for 3, with a successful DRS review proving that Molineux wasn't only bowling well - she was reviewing well too. At 44/4, London Spirit were wobbling badly. Yet Kapp refused to disappear. Alongside Nadine de Klerk, she quietly rebuilt the innings, taking Spirit to 50 in 52 balls before stitching together a valuable 27-run stand for the fifth wicket.
That partnership gave London Spirit something to defend. Kapp made 34 from 27 before Tilly Corteen-Coleman removed her on ball 73, and although Deandra Dottin never got going, bowled by Molineux on ball 90, Nadine de Klerk played a gem under pressure. Her 38 off 28, featuring three sixes, dragged the innings towards respectability before Corteen-Coleman dismissed her on ball 95. Charlie Dean's late cameo helped Spirit bring up 100 in 94 balls, and a productive final burst of 20 runs from the last two sets lifted them to 114/8. London Spirit needed the perfect start with the ball. Marizanne Kapp decided that sounded like a good idea. She removed Lizelle Lee for a duck on ball 5 with a sharp caught-and-bowled chance, immediately putting Southern Brave on the back foot. Even so, Maia Bouchier and Laura Wolvaardt steadied things beautifully, guiding Brave to 27/1 at the end of the Powerplay. It wasn't explosive. It didn't need to be. Chasing 115 is less about fireworks and more about making sure you don't accidentally set your own house on fire.
The middle phase belonged to Bouchier. Mostly. Wolvaardt contributed 13 before Nadine de Klerk trapped her LBW on ball 38, and although Kapp returned to bowl Jemimah Rodrigues for 12 on ball 53, Brave never allowed the asking rate to become uncomfortable. They reached 50 in 46 balls and were 59/2 at the Strategic Time-Out after 50 balls, with Bouchier looking increasingly settled. Sophie Molineux then swapped the captain's hat for the finisher's role, adding 52 runs with Bouchier for the fourth wicket. By the time Brave crossed 100 in 80 balls, the finish line was firmly in sight.
But the Spirit Women weren't done making things interesting, though. Charlie Dean brilliantly stumped Maia Bouchier for 46 off 38 on ball 90, denying her a deserved half-century, before Nadine de Klerk produced a stunning one-handed catch off her own bowling to remove Sophie Molineux on the very next delivery. For a brief moment, Lord's dared to dream of one last twist. Brief being the important word.
