Moeen Ali (Southern Brave): "[Coming in as a replacement player] Great to be back. I was watching while playing in Sri Lanka.
[Slight stutter during the chase] We kept losing wickets which knocked us back. Once you get those boundaries, you are back. Most important thing was getting the points.
[Importance of playing risk-free shots] Definitely, when it is a low-scoring game. Like you said, knock the ball into the gaps and that is where we lacked a bit.
[How did the call-up to the Hundred come about] Yeah, couple of things. I was due to comeback, my father wasn't feeling well. I was speaking to London Spirit and then CJ called me. Great to play with CJ and Rash. Don't know how long I will continue to play and probably won't get a chance to play again with CJ, Rash and Jofra. My father might have switched on the TV and realised, 'Oh he is here'. Probably, pleasantly surprised.
[Plan for this game] I missed the meeting as I was flying back. The chat was that it is a tough place to bat. Never easy, no one really comes out and smashes it. Great to get the points."

(On the bowling attack) I think I complemented them. This is the first time I've got more than two wickets in the tournament, and I think my first wicket was only in the last game as well. Everyone has been bowling well. We haven't been taking a huge number of wickets, but we've definitely been keeping the runs down.
(On adjusting his plans to the conditions) I think we changed our plans a little bit today with the big side and the short side. Usually, though, whatever the wicket and the outfield offer determines what we do during the game.
(On the close finish) When they got to 100-odd, you always think it's going to be an easy game, but we always seem to make it hard for ourselves."

01:07 AM IST, 08:37 PM Local Time: A superb knock from David Miller has seen the Southern Brave register a five-wicket win over the London Spirit at Lord's. The game did go down to the final five, but Southern Brave were always comfortable in the chase. A key result for the Chris Jordan-led side after losing their first three games.
Chasing 106 for victory, the Brave lost an early wicket as Ben McKinney was dismissed for a golden duck by David Willey. Nikhil Chaudhary was sent out at No.3, and he had a reprieve as James Coles dropped him at mid-wicket off Willey's bowling. At one end, Jamie Smith went about capitalising on the Powerplay, especially with the third and fourth five-ball sets being productive. Nikhil couldn't make use of the chance provided, though, as he was eventually caught at mid-wicket only off Willey.
The Brave finished the Powerplay at 38/2 while Smith continued to find the fence with ease. London Spirit were also hampered by Jamie Overton walking off the field due to a niggle; they did get Smith against the run of play as he missed a pretty straight delivery from James Coles to get trapped in front. The runs started to dry up as both Coles and Adam Zampa squeezed with dot balls. The Spirit also took advantage of that with Moeen holing out to long-on off Zampa while Marcus Stoinis was run-out at the run-out by Coles at the non-striker's end in an unfortunate manner not long after as well.
The asking rate just started to creep over run-a-ball as David Miller and Tristan Stubbs took time to get going. Miller was struggling with a thumb injury, but he eventually started to hit out and produced the boundaries to make things easy in the end. The game still dragged on as the Spirit's skipper, Liam Livingstone, kept it tight. However, Miller struck the 93rd ball for a maximum to get the scores level. Livingstone followed it up with three dot balls before Miller smashed another maximum to finish things off in style.
Earlier in the match, there was enough evidence from the beginning that batting won't be easy. Lhuan-dre Pretorius was the first to go as he sliced a wide delivery from Marcus Stoinis to Tristan Stubbs at deep point. A couple of late boundaries brought some respectability to the Powerplay as the Spirit finished it at 28/1.
Adil Rashid came in and weaved his magic by castling James Rew through his legs for 11 while the Spirit failed to get any acceleration whatsoever. Rashid showed his wily nature once again as he had Liam Livingstone caught at deep cover while Jofra Archer bounced over Dewald Brevis. The wickets kept falling with James Coles miscuing a swipe off Chris Jordan to short mid-wicket. Out of nowhere, Bairstow found his groove with a flurry of boundaries as he went on to reach his fifty off 40 balls.
Spirit found themselves at 103/5 with 15 balls to go when the Strategic Time-out was taken. After that, they had a free-fall with Bairstow first skewing a flat-batted shot off Archer to mid-off where Jordan completed a fine catch. A couple of balls later, Archer struck back-to-back to remove David Willey and Andrew Tye. Marcus Stoinis then came back and sent Jamie Overton and Adam Zampa back to the pavilion off consecutive balls as the Spirit lost four wickets in four balls and were bowled out for 105 with eight balls left in the innings.
