That's it from match 17 of the Bangladesh Premier League. Ninaad Dixit here, signing off on behalf of Akshay Bhide, Badal Pareek and our scorer Vishnu Verma. Stay tuned for more coverage from across the globe. Stay safe and take care.
Mushfiqur Rahim: "We have been playing really good cricket in the previous couple of games but couldn't finish. Our bowlers have been really brilliant in the last four games and the way we finished today, it was really brilliant. In the day games, there is something for the bowlers for the first few overs. We exploited that and got the result. Our bowlers managed really well at the backend as well. The openers are known for what they did today. If they apply themselves in friendly conditions, they will click and they did that today for us. If they keep on performing the way they did today, we have a good chance of winning the tournament."
Andre Fletcher: "I batted well and tried my best to stay as long as I can and took the team home. I won't like to take the credit, the bowlers bowled well and it was a team effort. The coaching staff uplifted the players and I will give the credit to them. The pitch was generating extra bounce. Me and Soumya tried to see off the fast bowlers and it worked."
Andre Fletcher is the player of the match.
Mosaddek Hossain: "In the middle period, Mithun and I coverd up but this was a below par total. If you have players like Simmons and Ravi Bopara and they are not performing so it is bad for us. We need to have a chat with our bowlers as we haven't been up to the mark."
It was a run fest and a treat from the Spiceman as he made a joke of the below par target and scored a magnificent 71 off 47 deliveries with the help of 5 fours and 5 sixes to help Khulna win by nine wickets.
He was supported well by his opening partner Soumya Sarkar who scored 43 off 31 with six fours and a six. The duo added 99 runs for the first wicket before Soumya was dismissed by Nazmul Islam Apu in the eleventh over.
Fletcher was then joined by Thisara Perera who played a wonderful cameo scoring 22 off just nine deliveries making the use of all the loose deliveries pitched by the Sylhet bowlers.
Nazmul Islam Apu was the only wicket taker but conceded 39 runs in just 3.2 overs. All the bowlers barring Shiraz Ahmed and Jubair Hossain were mighty expensive, leaking runs at over 10.33 an over.
Khulna Tigers now have three wins from six matches and they have climbed up to the fourth spot in the points table with six points to their name. Sylhet Sunrisers at the other hand have lost their fourth match out of five and sit at the bottom of the table.
The presentation ceremony to follow.
14.2 N Islam to T Perera
6 SIXX and that's the end of the match. Excellent strike by Perera and with this, the Khulna Tigers beat the Sylhet Sunrisers by nine wickets. Tossed up delivery on the stumps, Perera gets down on one knee and tonks it straight over long on fence for a biggie. A comprehensive victory by the Tigers.
14.1 N Islam to T Perera
4 FOUR!!! Fuller delivery on the stumps, Perera heaves it through the leg side and splits the gap between long on and deep mid wicket perfectly for a boundary.
