That was a sensational thriller to end the Sunday. We had a fantastic double-header day here at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. In the first game, Hyderabad Kingsmen were outplayed by Quetta Gladiators but in the second game, both the side fought vehemently till the end and Karachi Kings kept their nerves to seal the deal with three balls to spare. A lot of drama ahead of the final over made the game more interesting.
Time for us to take the leave. This is Saptak Sanyal, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Manan Mehta and the scorer/analyst of this game Zeeshan Naiyer. Good night.
David Warner (Karachi Kings Captain): "(Thoughts on the win) It does feel sweet. We did it the hard way. Shaheen bowled really well. I would have liked it to be easier but happy with the win.
(Approach to the chase) As a batter you feel that if you take it deep it can work but then 15 off the last over makes it really tricky.
(Positives) I think the bowling is working well for us. Last game as well and once again the bowlers are really coming together and nailing the areas.
(Thoughts on the wicket) Yeah, the spinners are licking their lips. The batters don't like it as much. However, that is the nature of the beast. When you play just in two venues the wickets will get slow.
(Another win over Lahore) Yeah, very happy to get a win over them. Hopefully if it comes down to the finals, we are able to do the same against them."
Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars Captain):"(Reflections on the game) It was actually a good game. We all tried. We say and tell everyday that we will fight till the last ball and we did it.
(On the batting of Qalandars) Actually both batting sides are same. They also chased it in the final over. 120-odd is what you can chase in 15 overs. I can say that our batters tried.
(On the ball being taken away because of tampering) Actually I do not if the ball was tampered. We will see it in the camera and discuss. Five runs penalty hurts but I can't say anything now.
(The record against Karachi Kings creates a mental blockage or not?) Not really. For me my team is fighting till the last ball and that makes me happy."
Adam Zampa (Player of the Match): "(What worked for him?) Yeah, I guess I summed up the wicket well. Used wicket. Low and slow wicket. I looked to hit the stumps, and it suited me.
(What makes him so good?) It is part of becoming the universal bowler. Assessing the conditions. I have played here a lot, so I used my experience. I know what I am doing out there. I have a lot of clarity in my mind. There is not a lot of mystery in my bowling, but it works."
