That's it from our coverage of the 6th Pakistan National T20 group fixture between Northern and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hosted by Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Megh Mandaliya here, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Hitesh Peddurwar and scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Tune in for another double header tomorrow. See you there!

Khalid Usman (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Captain and Player of the match): “We leaked some runs in the last overs and we need work on that. We were around 20-25 runs short but I believe 160 was still a defendable total. The boundaries are massive here. Thus, I try to play straight as much as possible.”

Ali Imran(Northern Captain): "The toss is not in our control, batting first or second doesn't matter, when I was batting in the middle it looked like it was easily chasable. But once I played a few dot balls the pressure built up and we lost a few wickets. We bowled pretty well 160 was a good total to chase, but we didn't bat well."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony!!
That concludes the 6th group fixture of Pakistan National T20 2022 between the Northern and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. What a fantastic encounter this was, it kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won this encounter by 2 runs. The surfaces continue to benefit the team batting first as another team fails to hunt down the total in this tournament.

In pursuit of 160, Hassan Tarar gave Northern an electrifying start as he smashes two consecutive boundaries on the first two deliveries of the match. However, his opening companion Mohammad Huraira 4 (7) soon departed followed by another wicket of Nasir Nawaz 5 (6), who never looked settled. Tarar 38 (25) tried to build a partnership with Rohail Nazir 24 (29) but he returned back as a result of a soft dismissal. Since then, the Northern constantly kept on losing wickets and could never accelerate the innings. Khalid Usman delivered tight lines and grabbed the most wickets (2/16)  for Pakhtunkhwa. Arshad Iqbal, Kamran Ghulam, and Imran Khan sr all clinched a single scalp.
Sohail Tanvir and Aamer Jamal lifted the hopes of Northern but in the end, they fell 2 runs short.

Before that,
Sahibzada Farhan and Mohammad Haris started the innings for Pakhtunkhwa on a striking note. The duo stitched an opening partnership of 83 and secured Pakhtunkhwa in a commanding position. Farhan was taking the charge while Haris played the second fiddle. Farhan bagged the most runs and went on to score 53 (45). However, the wicket of Haris 33 (27) at the stroke of halfway mark gave momentum to Northern and since then, they never allowed Pakhtunkhwa to pull back the game.

The changing point in the first innings arrived when Usman Khan clinched three wickets in the 13th over. The over read: 1,W,WD,1,1,W,W. Similarly, Salman Irshad handled the death overs and also claimed three wickets, and finished his figures on 3/38.
In the end, it was a hard-fought victory for the defending champions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and they now win two in two. Stay Tuned for the post-match presentation.
