The action continues tomorrow as well in the UP T20 2026, where we again have a double-header lined up on Sunday. In the afternoon fixture, Gorakhpur Lions will square off against Lucknow Falcons, and in the evening fixture, we will witness Noida Kings battling out against the top-seeded Meerut Mavericks.
After rain washed out the first game of the day without any result, the groundsmen did a fantastic job, which allowed for a 12-over contest to take place in the second fixture of the day, where Kanpur Superstars, powered by Sameer Rizvi's 91*, defeated the Noida Kings to keep their glimmer of playoff hope alive.
Sameer Rizvi (POTM): "(Sameer, your absence from the starting XI today—was it a strategic call, or was it simply to give you some rest? No, sir. In our first match, I took a catch and injured my finger. Since then, I’ve been having quite a lot of trouble while fielding. I told Sir that I wanted to play as an Impact Player because whenever the ball hits my finger while fielding, the pain gets worse, and it was also causing problems while batting. So, we decided to use me as an Impact Player.
(Thoughts on Adarsh Singh's captaincy today) He handled things really well. It was a flat wicket, and they got a good start initially. Even after that, he made some really good bowling changes and restricted them to a very low target. So, I think his captaincy was quite good.
(His thought process while batting today) It’s important to show intent during the powerplay. Since it was a 12-over match and the target was 130, if any team capitalises on the powerplay, it becomes easier to control the game later. So, my plan was that because the powerplay was short, whatever runs I could score would help the team as much as possible.
(Was there an extra pressure today on your shoulders while chasing?) No, sir. I was just thinking that I would play my game—the way I normally play—and bat like that till the end. Whether we needed five runs or fifty runs, I had decided on that mindset before going in, and I batted with the same approach till the end. I wasn’t thinking about who was at the non-striker’s end or whether someone was supporting me or not. I just believed in myself that I had to score the runs on my own."

Looking at the first two overs, we didn't get off to a great start, but after that, the bowlers covered it up really well. The fielding was also good. We missed one or two catches, but our ground fielding was much better. The bowlers bowled really well.
