Wayne Parnell (Pretoria Capitals Captain): "Yes, but we benefited because our bowlers bowled at the proper spots. Neesham and Anrich have demonstrated exceptional ball-handling skills, and I want them to keep up the good work. Will Jacks and Philipe Salt made a very aggressive partnership and we were able to win the match very quickly."
James Neesham(Player of the match):"We have got an incredible bowling attack in this side and being an allrounder I feel privileged to bowl under those guys. Lots of things got away that could have gone either way but yeah we came back stronger from the scratchy start yesterday. It's a difficult position to hold, but everything went according to plan. Thank you to everyone who attended; it was great to see you all."
Faf du Plessis (Joburg Super Kings): "It's regrettable because this isn't the first time it's happened, the best way to explain it is with lousy batting. Aggressiveness and shrewd batting must both be present at the same time. The fundamentals of T20 involve rebuilding after a wicket is lost. When we don't bat well, we lose a lot of wickets in clusters. On this wicket, it's pretty difficult to hold a score of about 100. With me at three, Janemann Malan and Reeza Hendricks were debating who should go first. I had played at three a lot and believed it was appropriate for me to go first. We offered them three chances, and they didn't take any of them."
11:47 PM IST | Deepak: By defeating Joburg Super Kings by 6 wickets with 42 balls to spare, Pretoria Capitals exact revenge for their previous defeat.π Pretoria Capitals will be rewarded a bonus point and they are now table toppers.
The match between the Pretoria Capitals and the Joburg Super Kings was a one-sided affair, with the Capitals dominating from start to finish. The Kings were invited to bat first, but they were unable to put up a decent total, as they were bundled out for a measly 122 runs in the 16th over. Skipper Faf du Plessis was the only bright spot for the Kings, as he amassed a rapid 51 runs off 22 balls, but the rest of their batters failed to execute and they were left with a paltry total to defend. Anrich Nortje and James Neesham were the standout bowlers for the Capitals, as they both extracted three wickets each, putting the Kings on the backfoot early on.
In pursuit of the 122-run total, the Capitals got off to a flying start as their openers Philip Salt and Will Jacks came out all guns blazing and started destroying the bowlers from the very first over. The pair forged a partnership of 46 runs for the first wicket before Will Jacks departed for a rapid 34 runs off 16 balls. Theunis de Bruyn and Rilee Rossouw failed to impress today and departed for 0 and 11 runs, respectively. But Philip Salt, who was in scintillating form, scored his half-century on the occasion and forged a partnership of 51 runs with Shane Dadswell. Shane Dadswell departed for 18 runs off 22 balls, but Philip Salt remained unbeaten on 52 runs and sealed the match for his side by 6 wickets with 42 balls to spare.
On the other hand, Nandre Burger, Gerald Coetzee, and Lewis Gregory each contributed one wicket for the Kings, but it was too little too late as the Kings were unable to defend their low total. The Capitals were victorious in a dominant performance, and they will look to continue their winning ways in their next match.
