Bhanuka Rajapaksa (Jaffna Kings Captain): "(On not scoring big in the slog overs) Yes, we did lose a bit of momentum, especially after losing Avishka Fernando. When you're scoring freely early in the innings, losing wickets can shift the momentum.
But I'm quite happy with the way we finished because, at one stage, we were probably looking at around 175–180. So, while I'm not completely satisfied with the last five overs, a score of 199, setting a target of 200, is something any captain would be happy with.
(On areas he is focusing on most) It's all about performing consistently. All three departments—batting, bowling, and fielding—need to contribute if you want to win games and, ultimately, the tournament.
A lot of credit goes to our bowlers, especially for the way they started the innings. Mohamed Shiraz gave us a brilliant start with the ball. Overall, I'm quite happy with where we stand at the moment, and hopefully we can carry this momentum into Kandy."

Physically we were drained. These are not excuses though. We are professional unit. It is a professional sport and unfortunately we couldn't do well today. Kandy Royals have now suffered their fourth defeat of the season and their chances of qualifying for the LPL 2026 playoffs are increasingly diminishing. Kandy Royals endured a batting collapse, slumping to 106/10 in 18.2 overs while chasing a target of 200 runs, with only opener Lahiru Udara (54) offering sustained resistance.
After being given a massive target of 200 runs by Jaffna Kings, Kandy's daunting chase got off to the worst possible start when Kusal Perera fell for 4 off 3 balls, caught off Mohamed Shiraz in the opening over. Dale Phillips also failed to make an impact, trapped lbw by Shiraz for 2, leaving Kandy reeling at 10/2 inside three overs.
