So, that's it from this one-sided affair between the two heavyweights in the WCPL. This is Arijit Kundu singing off on behalf of co-commentators Rajarshi, Saptak Sanyal, and scorer Yogesh Kumar. Stay tuned to the CREX network for all things cricket!!
That's all we had from this encounter of the WCPL. The Knight Riders continue to dominate the tourney with a couple of wins taking them to the summit in the standings. The Jamaican side suffers a setback after their initial victory but will be eyeing to bounce back.
Deandra Dottin (Trinbago Knight Riders Women Captain):"(What pleased you the most?) Winning the toss (chuckles). That was a good toss to win. I am very pleased with how we went out there and stuck to our plans. The way we bowled was good. We won the powerplay and out them on the back foot. That was really good.
(On Marizanne Kapp, Shikha Pandey and Karishma Ramharack) I am really pleased. I think Ramharack wants to take wickets. Kapp got us the wicket of Meg Lanning at the start and that put them on back foot. All in all, I am very happy and proud with the girls.
(A dream performance for you as a captain with Yastika Bhatia at the other end) We always emphasize on one of our batters to bat good. I think she batted superbly and she batted to her strengths.
(How about the celebrations after the game?) I think the girls are probably going to do a little recovery and then probably have fun at the beach later. We are loving Barbados at the moment."
Stafanie Taylor (Jamaica Empress captain):"(How would you sum up this game?) We didn't put up enough runs on the board. Didn't get the start we wanted, and kept losing wickets, we just never had that momentum to go into the bowling.
(On whether she'd rethink bringing Williams at 3) No, I think Rashada batted really well at 3. Yes, she opened, but given Amy starts as the opener we believe that she was fit to be there. I believe where we fell down is in the middle, and we still did not get to rotate the strike as much as we would look like. Too many dot balls, and that's what killed us.
(On their bowling) To win a game like that, you have to bowl well from the start. Not having Chin (Henry) from the start was a big blow for us, so we always had to reshuffle, look at who has to bowl in the first six. The start wasn't what we wanted. TKR bowled and batted really well, I must commend them on that.
(On Chinelle Henry) She just had a bit of spasm on her back. Nothing too serious, we just didn't want to risk her bowling with little runs left.
(On how to rally the troops) We have an analyst, we're going to have a look, just look at areas where we need to improve on, and I believe that we will."
Karishma Ramharack (Player of the Match):"(On whether she thought about bouncing back after going wicketless in the first game) Not necessarily, my main focus is to give the team a good start with the ball, and if it don't go well, of course I want an opportunity in the next game.
(On her plans today) The wicket was quite slow, as spinners we talk about using that. For me it was just about being consistent as well. That's what I did today on the wicket.
(Mood in the camp) Pretty good, I think all of us are gelling really well. Especially the international players, they are bringing so much experience to us for the younger girls. We are looking to learn as much as possible from them.
(On speaking about strategies early on in the tournament) Of course, every game is a new game, and of course, we are looking to plan well and execute well. So far so good, so we can't really complain about anything."
Karishma Ramharack is adjudged Player of the Match!
12:40 PM Local Time, 10:10 PM IST: That's how the World Boss finishes things in style! A huge NRR booster for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the WCPL as they edge past the Jamaica Empress by nine wickets in the third fixture of the ensuing tourney. The Knight Riders continue to dominate the points table with as many wins from a couple of games, gathering four points.
Contrasting to their name, the Empress looked out of sorts against the Knight Riders bowling blend of pace and spin. Rashada worked out a fighting 40 before three wickets fell in the span of four deliveries at the start of the slog overs. They were 76/8 in 16.1 overs before Chinelle Henry's sluggish 22 propelled the Empress to 100/8 in 20 overs. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation....
