That's it from our coverage of the 2nd game in the Legends League Cricket season 4! It is becoming a trend to bat first and win the game as shown in the 2 results we have achieved on the same surface so far.

Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Dev Rajawat and scorer Paras Yadav. Stay tuned for more action from around the world.
Tillakaratne Dilshan (India Tigers Captain): "[on the start] First game is really important for any tournament. Credit goes to the boys.

[on Shahzad] We planned to get 140. We had good spinners. This pitch suited them. We knew a couple of overs could get us back in the game. We didn't bowl too well in the first 10. We struggled at one stage but Pawan batted really well."
Legend of the Match: Pawan Negi
Asghar Afghan (Royal Riders Punjab Captain): (On the disappointing result despite a good start) “We are disappointed with the result. The start was very good, but somehow we couldn’t carry it forward. As we said earlier, the match was in our hands at one stage. On this pitch, the batter who gets set against spin can win the match because there was a lot of top spin, and it was difficult for a new batter.

(On the opposition bowling performance) Mendis bowled very well, no doubt about that, and their fielding was also very good. The momentum was in our hands at one point, but once they held their lines well, we couldn’t come back into the game.

(On Mohammad Shahzad’s innings) Mohammad Shahzad played a great innings. With the new ball, the ball was coming nicely onto the bat. We told Shahzad to score as many runs as possible because later on it becomes difficult to bat as the ball starts gripping.

(On losing the match despite a strong effort) Every team makes their plans. Shahzad batted very well, but they won the match. This is cricket. In the next game, Insha’Allah, we will try not to repeat these mistakes.”
10:47 PM IST, Local Time: The India Tigers spinners take the side to their first 2 points in the Legends League Cricket season 4 with a thumping 20 run win over tournament debutants Royal Riders Punjab.

Royal Riders Punjab won the toss and elected to bowl first. Kuldeep Hooda's 48 and Pawan Negi's 41 in 18 balls helped India Tigers add a competitive 168/8 on the board in 20 overs. Anureet Singh was the star with the ball claiming 2 wickets in the powerplay and finishing his 4 overs with 3/21, Farman Ahmed picked up 2/25 as well.

Mohammad Shahzad was all guns blazing smashing 48 in 18 balls scoring all those runs in a 50-run opening stand with Phil Mustard (6 off 9). Rishi Dhawan at number 3 hit 45 off 39 balls with skipper Asghar Afghan hitting 28 in 31 deliveries.

The spinners Negi and Jeevan Mendis pulled things back with RRP slumping from 136/3 to 146/8. Negi picked up 2/22 in his 4 overs with Mendis claiming 2/14 in his 4. Abu Nechim defending 27 in the final overs also picked up 2 scalps to finish with 2/22. Samit Patel conceded 20 in his first 2 overs but came back strongly to give away only 4 runs and take 2 wickets in the penultimate over.

The RRP middle and lower order could never recover and slumped to finish at 148/9 in their 20 overs. Stay tuned for the post match presentation.

W OUT! TAKEN! DONE AND DUSTED! Much fuller and around middle, with the pace taken off. Anureet gets forward and swings for the hills. Gets deceived by the change of pace, and also, his bottom hand comes off. The ball goes high in the air off the toe end of the bat. Dilshan, from long on, runs across to his right a bit and settles underneath it. Pouches it and manages to hold his grip despite tumbling down onto the ground. WHAT A TURNAROUND AFTER THAT EARLY ASSAULT OF SHAHZAD FOR INDIA TIGERS! THEY HAVE DEFEATED ROYAL RIDERS PUNJAB BY 20 RUNS!!!
