On paper, it might feel like a comfortable victory — India won by 4 wickets with 26 balls to spare. However, at 19/4 in 3.1 overs, they were huffing and puffing against a team ranked below the likes of Thailand, UAE and PNG among others in Women's T20Is. But then, that is why cricket is so fascinating.

Deepti Sharma (Player of the Match): "[How pleased is she with her performance tonight?] I'm really pleased because I'm used to these conditions early also. I'm glad that I could bat early in the powerplay. My mindset was to finish the match and that's the way me and Niki were playing.
[On her approach while batting] I have played in between when we took few days for practice sessions. I had cleared that I had to play a few shots early when they were in my radar. The mindset is simple. To play in my areas. Yeah.
[How much has franchise cricket helped her?] Pretty much helped me WPL and Hundred and all that stuff. To bat early and chase. When you are mentally ready, you are used to the conditions and it helps."
Player of the Match: Deepti Sharma
Smriti Mandhana [India Women Captain]: "(Her assessment of the game) We would have not liked, as a team, to go down this way. But nevertheless we won the match. Nandani bowler extremely well. Niki Prasad on debut showing that kind of composure. Deepti Sharma, legend of the game, she has been doing this for a long time now. Really happy for the win. But lot of things we can take and work upon.
(What are those things they can work on?) I have already addressed that in the dressing room. People would start saying it in sometime. I would not like to tell it now. Tonight, the way everyone fielded. The way Niki and Anushka came in and were running around, that was a big positive for us.
(On playing an unknown team in Zimbabwe) The Zimbabwe batters batted well. They played some good cricketing shots. Unknown oppositions sometimes can be tricky. You don't know what you'll get. But then, we adapted towards the end by bowling slow. We will definitely take that away from this. We did plan against them, but watching video footage and watching live is different."
