Indian skipper poses with the trophy before he hands the silverware to his teammates. Team India has sealed another glorifying series win here, Rohit Sharma is growing strength to strength with every match passing. Kudos to India and thank you, Sri Lanka, for coming in these hard times.
We also want to thank each and every reader of ours. Thanks for sticking around. This is me, Arjun Bhalla signing off on the behalf of my colleagues - Anurag Dasgupta and Raju Khariya. Stay safe and get vaccinated!
Rohit Sharma: "It has been a good run (On India's recent winning run). It is something we would like to continue. We wanted to achieve a few things as a team and I guess we have done that. Jadeja is a champion player and seems to be getting better and better with each passing game. He strengthens our team and has improved as a bowler. Shreyas Iyer just carried off from where he left in the T20I series against Sri Lanka. He knew he was stepping on the big shoes of (Rahane, Pujara) and has done everything we have asked him to do. Rishabh is a special player. Especially in these conditions. We saw it in the last series against England and now a couple of stumping and catches have shown that he has really improved behind the stumps. It was my personal feeling (That Ashwin is an all-time great). Whenever we give him the ball, he comes up with something special. Pink-Ball Tests are always challenging. There are so many challenges and we are trying to adjust accordingly."
Rishabh Pant, Player of the Series: "I have made my fair share of errors in the initial parts of my career but I have worked hard on skills and I am glad that it is playing off well. I think both scoring runs and keeping wickets make me happy. As a cricketer, it is important to work and improve on both. The wicket was difficult to bat on so I had to bat more quickly than I normally do. If the team management wants me to bat at 5, I will do so. (On keeping improvement) I think it is about confidence and I am working hard and trying to improve every day."
Rishabh Pant banks the Player of the Series award for his wonderful performances through the series.
Shreyas Iyer, Player of the Match: "With the batters struggling (First innings), I knew I had to attack the opposition. I was trying to be one step ahead of the bowlers. No regrets (of not scoring a hundred). I was in the mindset to play as many balls as possible. When the tail came in, I was on 55 and I added 37 more runs, so I wasn't bothered about missing out on a hundred. I have always dreamt about India, to play Test matches. I hope I could continue the same way and maintain the same level of consistency."
Shreyas Iyer gets the Player of the Match award.
Hyundai Alcazar Grand Spell of the Match has been received by Jasprit Bumrah.
Rishabh Pant bags the Dream11 Gamechanger of the Match award.
Ambuja Atoot Jodi of the Match goes to Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis.
Dimuth Karunaratne: "Yes, I would have been happier if we would have won this. Once you stay on this wicket, it becomes easier to bat. As a team, we couldn't capitalised on the opportunities. We didn't get enough good scores and gave away too many loose deliveries. I am really happy for him. (Suranga Lakmal). I wish him good luck for the County season."
