That brings an end to our coverage for this game. This is me, Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Wali Parvez and scorer Manish Bishnoi. Until next time, cheers and goodbye.
Steve Smith (Player of the Match): "Just help the boys win the title. We have a game against the Scorchers in Perth and that will be my last game. Hopefully, we will step up again. Just score runs. It’s a different surface in Perth and I’m looking forward to it. I’m playing for a reason and I’m enjoying this. Hopefully, one more win for us."

Steve Smith is named the Player of the Match.
05:20 PM IST | Akshay: That’s the end of this game. A solid all-round effort from the Sydney Sixers sees them defeat the Hobart Hurricanes convincingly. After posting a mammoth total on the board, their bowlers bowled beautifully to restrict the Hurricanes to 156 to win the game by 24 runs. The Hurricanes suffer their eighth loss of the competition and will have to win their last league game by a big margin to qualify for the finals.

It was an uphill task for the Hurricanes to chase 181. They didn’t have the best of starts as they lost Ben McDermott in the third over on 13. Caleb Jewell (7) and Matthew Wade (14) also struggled to get going as they were struggling at 52/3 in the eighth over. Tim David joined Zak Crawley and played some aggressive strokes. He was looking good in the middle before he holed out in the deep on 24.

Regular wickets meant that the Hurricanes were falling behind the required run rate. Crawly played some good shots and tried hard but was dismissed on one short of his half-century. It was too much to do in the end for the Hurricanes as they finished their innings on 156/8 to lose the game by 24 runs. Jackson Bird, Sean Abbott and Hayden Kerr picked up two wickets each as they defended the total successfully.

Earlier, the Sixers were asked to bat first. They got off to a flying start, courtesy of Steven Smith’s blazing knock at the top of the order. He continued his rich form with the bat and played some fantastic shots against the new ball. Josh Philippe struggled at the other end but there was no stopping Smith. He brought up his fifty off just 22 balls. They were going at 10 runs per over before Smith was trapped in front of the stumps on a 33-ball 66. He hit 4 fours and 6 maximums in his blistering knock.

The wicket of Smith helped the Hurricanes pull back things. They kept picking wickets at regular intervals and kept a lid on the scoring rate. Moises Henriques along with Ben Dwarshuis hit cameos in the end to help their side post 180 on the board. Henriques remained unbeaten on 23 and Dwarshuis scored 30 off just 14 balls to help their side finish on a high. Patrick Dooley for the Hurricanes picked up three wickets.
