5:10 PM IST | With a lot of crests and troughs in the game, the match has finally fallen on the court of the Hurricanes. It has to be the spinners - especially Paddy Dooley (4-0-16-4) who tilted the momentum toward the Matthew Wade-led side.

It all started with Faf du Plessis taking on the Hurricanes’ bowlers inside the powerplay with support from Adam Lyth. He went on to score 32 runs from 16 deliveries and the powerplay saw 44 runs coming with the loss of the Proteas batter. A few quick wickets followed as Dooley and Riley Meredith got some volumes under the wicket’s column.

Scorchers were down at 51-3 and then the duo of Josh Inglis and Ashton Turner gave some hope to the Perth-based franchise. The duo glued a partnership of 75 runs together with Inglis (62 runs of 37 balls) taking on the bowlers after playing around the ground for singles and doubles for a while. Dooley came back in for his final over and removed Josh Inglis and Ashton Agar in the 16th over. This is where the momentum shifted and the scoring rate dropped.

The pressure was building and with 18 runs needed from 12 balls, Shadab Khan bowled a brilliant 19th over. In the end, 14 runs were needed from the last over and Nathan Ellis did the job to drive the Hurricanes past the finishing line.

Earlier in the game, Hobart Hurricanes won the toss and opted to bat first on their own backward. Ben McDermott was removed right in the first ball of the innings, courtesy of an in-jagger from Jason Behrendorff.

Soon, Matthew Wade, the skipper arrived at the scene and glued a partnership of 67 runs with D’Arcy Short. Surprisingly, it was Wade who scored 51 runs in that partnership and took on the bowlers. The southpaw brought the momentum back in the side of the Hurricanes and D’Arcy played the role of a grafter. They were 94-2 at the end of the drinks break and with a few more wickets, the run-scoring rate became quite sluggish.

Aaron Hardie removed Asif Ali and Joel Paris on back-to-back deliveries and the home side were pushed on the back foot. Soon, Tim David decided to play the bulk of the deliveries and hammered 46* runs from 28 deliveries to steer the scoreboard to 172.

W WICKET!! CAUGHT!! That's it, Hurricanes crushed the three times champions by 8 runs. Fuller ball on the off and Richardson goes for a big one and lofts it to the long-off but didn't get enough wood on it as the ball goes straight on the throats of the long-off who makes no mistake and takes it easily.

Its all over for the Scorchers as they need 9 runs from the last ball.
