Arya: So thats all for today's encounter folks. Like always it was a pleasure bringing the live commentary and match updates for you. Till the next time, tata from me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty and my fellow commentators Akshay Bhide and Karthik Raj.
Arya: In the end, the target was way too much for the Stars as they kept losing wickets on a consistent basis. Sandeep Lamichhane made an immediate impact as he bagged two crucial wickets while the pick of the bowlers was Scott Boland who bagged 3 wickets. None of the batsmen barring Maxwell managed to score something substantial.
Arya: The chase was powered by a breathtaking knock of 70 runs by skipper Glenn Maxwell. After a reasonable start from Andre Fletcher and Marcus Stoinis, both were dismissed in the same over which pushed them to the backfoot. However, the innings was resurrected by the captain all alone as he kept plundering the bowlers all around the park. Till he was there, the Melbourne Stars were well and truly on top but his wicket started a procession of sorts and the Stars kept losing wickets a consistent basis.
Arya: Winning the toss it was Glenn Maxwell who put the Hurricanes in. Yet again it was Dawid Malan who carried on his dream run in the tournament and it was on the back of his knock of 75 which actually helped them post a competitive 165 on the board. Colin Ingram looked in ominous touch towards the back end of the innings and belted 26 of just 12 deliveries to propel the Hurricanes to a more than competitive score. For the Melbourne Stars, it was Billy Stanlake who was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 3/25
Arya: So that proved to be thoroughly dominating performance from the Hobart Hurricanes as they stormed past the Melbourne Stars by runs to register their 5th win of the tournament. Despite a valiant effort from Melbourne Stars skipper Glenn Maxwell, it was the Hobart Hurricanes who held their nerves and registered a 21 runs victory in the end.
