Ben McDermott has been named as the Player of the Match. He said, "I missed the first two games but the boys are loving it so it's nice to come back in a good cricket team."
Although Ingram didn't get a move on, McDermott dominated the 55-run partnership which turned out to be a crucial one. Kane Richardson did dismiss Ingram in the 14th over but it proved too late for the Renegades. In the end, McDermott stayed unbeaten on 89 off 55 balls while Tim David struck two consecutive sixes to finish the match with 21 off 12 balls. With this win, Hurricanes move to the top of the table with 11 points
What an emphatic way to bring up the victory. Josh Lalor did remove D'Arcy Short early in the piece but Ben McDermott looked set from the word go. Hurricanes lost their other opener, Will Jacks via a run-out in the fourth over but they still managed to score 33 runs in the four-over Powerplay. Peter Handscomb fell to the debutant Noor Ahmad who should have had Colin Ingram's wicket too but an umpiring error helped the Hurricanes break free.
