So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentators, Arijit and Wali. Do stay tuned to OneCricket and CricketExchange's coverage of a lot more matches
Angelo Perera - We are delighted, we were very close in the first three games, but we couldn't close it off. Ravi and Tom did well, our bowlers, I thought they were outstanding. I did tell the coach that we'd win if Ravi stood till the end of the chase.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa- We were 10-15 runs short, anything around 140 would have been competitive. It wasn't a mistake (playing an extra seamer), Hafeez was unable to play and we needed to balance the side.
Ravi Bopara:It was a tough wicket, the boys sis tell me that. In a low scoring game, sometimes you go into a shell, but it's nice to win our first two points. The plan was to rotate the strike, we knew we could get the boundaries when needed. Was a long time ago that we played T20 cricket, so it was good to chase the total down.
Ravi Bopara has been named as the 'Man of the Match'
Finally, Kandy Warriors break the duck after three matches with the experienced Ravi Bopara playing a stellar role. There is no doubt that it was the bowling attack that set-up this victory for Kandy as the likes of Shiraz Ahmed, Nimesh Vimukthi and Kamindu Mendis combined to take seven wickets. However, the pitch wasn't a straight-forward one and they needed someone like Bopara to guide the side through a tricky chase.
Mohammad Amir struck an early blow to signal his first appearance in this season as he sent back TM Sampath is a cracking yorker. The other Kandy opener, Charith Asalanka tried to remain positive and played a few shots with the skipper Angelo Perera for company. However, the 28-run partnership was broken in the fifth over when Asalanka miscued an attempted big shot off Dhananjaya Lakshan to Ben Dunk at mid-on.
In the very next over, Nuwan Thushara produced a jaffer to strike Angelo Perera's off-stump as Kandy suffered a jittery phase. A few quite overs later, Samit Patel came into the game as Kamindu Mendis failed to get requisite connection on the pull shot attempted towards deep square-leg. Just when Galle seemed to be coming back into the game, Bopara and Tom Moores batted with a lot of sense to get the scorecard ticking.
Moores, in particular, chanced his arm and produced a few boundaries to relieve the pressure off Bopara who was batting with a below-par strike-rate. It didn't help Galle that Noor Ahmad bowled too many wides while the fielders also fumbled on more than one occasion. Moores played one shot too many and got himself stumped off Samit's bowling but it was a little bit too late, too less for Galle. In the end, Bopara and Minod Bhanuka saw Kandy through to their first victory in the tournament
