And that is the story from The Hague. Cosmic stumbled early, rebuilt brilliantly, and reached 140/9. Rotterdam stumbled early too. But they recovered at exactly the right time. Livingstone fought for Cosmic. McDermott finished for Rotterdam. Nortje and Wiese kept striking. Van Meekeren kept the Dockers under pressure. Yet, when the final equation demanded composure, Rotterdam found it. 141/5 in 19.5 overs. Five wickets. One ball left. A proper last-over thriller. The Dockers take the points. Cosmic take the lessons.
Faf du Plessis (Rotterdam Dockers Captain): (On the close finish) "It was squeaky bum, squeaky bum across the line. But it's strange, you get those games in tournaments where you just have to find a way to get across. You look back at a competition, and there are those games, whether you come out on the right side or the wrong side. These games are generally the ones that get you through to the knockout. So, it's a win for us.
(On what made the pitch difficult) It was an easy surface. Slow, very slow. We didn't expect it to be that slow, looking at the other games before it. The wicket was actually quite nice. So maybe the fact that it was game five or six or whatever we were on, it just got really slow. I think what you do is, you're trying to hit the ball harder, and on a wicket like that, it's not necessary. We saw Ben McDermott coming in and hitting the ball hard into the ground, trying to get those twos and then the odd four. It's not a venue where you come in and hit forward sixes off every ball, and I think we got caught a lot in that mindset. Then there were a lot of dot balls. So, a lot of learning for us from a batting perspective, to make sure next time we're in that position, we're not squeaky bum over the line.
(On the bowling performance of Anrich Nortje) The bowlers seem to be doing the job for us. Nortje seems to be in serious form right now, bowling really quickly, which is a big part of what we wanted from someone like him. If you come to Europe and guys don't face that high pace all the time, 150s is quick. He's done that really well, coming back from a long injury and bowling quick. So, he's been very good. But today, very naughty four-frees.
(On his hand and fitness) All good, all good. Thumb and elbow, really good, thank you."

Ben McDermott (Player of the Match): (On his emotions after the close finish) "It was crazy till the end. It was a tough wicket to really start on, but once you got going and got into your innings, it felt like it got a little bit easier. So, luckily this afternoon I could sort of get aside and get away a little bit and then take it deep. I probably took it too deep in the end; it was a bit close for comfort, but nice to get the job done.
(On batting at No. 5 or 6 and assessing the situation before going in) I've got a little bit of experience behind me now of different roles in T20 cricket, so I'm lucky to lean back on those experiences. That's definitely one for the notebook and to remember because, yeah, it's nice to finish it off for the boys.
(On his approach on a difficult batting surface) Just staying in T20 shots. It was a little bit low and slow at times and got a little bit of variable bounce, but I think looking straight helped me. So, just staying in my shot and looking to hit straight was probably key for today.
(On who decides the wicketkeeping duties between him and Heinrich Klaasen) That's the coach. The coach decides. He's obviously a very good wicketkeeper, so I'm happy to leave it to him."

We were chasing it there, and I think some of the boys bowled extremely well, all the way from Naylor on debut, to the way he batted and bowled there. When we were under pressure, he was excellent.
(On whether 140 was a competitive total) Yeah, absolutely. I think the wicket's been pretty tough to start on in the Powerplay, and with the score on the board, you build pressure. I think we did that really well. We just didn't quite get the wickets at the right time to have enough pressure there at the end, and probably a few poor overs from my part just let the game away a little.
(On what he could have done differently) I think we went with the aggressive options at all times, and that's the way I want to play my cricket. That's the way I ask the boys to play cricket. So, we took some brave decisions there, and it didn't quite go our way today.
(On the team's batting and coming close despite different totals) No, look, I'm really happy with the lads. We've got a lot of experience in the dressing room. Again, we didn't quite get what we wanted with the bat, yet we took it to the second-last ball. So, I'm very happy with the lads. 10:17 PM IST, 6:47 PM Local Time: WHAT A GAME! In cricket, pressure can build slowly, but victory often arrives in a single breath. Rotterdam Dockers found theirs at the very end. Chasing 141, the Dockers were squeezed to 28/1 in the Powerplay. They were still behind the asking rate. Glasgow Cosmic had the early advantage. But Michael Levitt and Vikramjit Singh steadied the chase before the middle overs brought another twist. Then Ben McDermott changed the tempo completely. His 37 off 24 kept Rotterdam alive when the equation tightened. Could Cosmic close it out? They came close. Very close. But the Dockers held their nerve to reach 141/5 in 19.5 overs, winning by five wickets with one ball remaining.
