Right then, Rotterdam Dockers have come away with a 31-run victory in this rain-shortened contest, defending 172 brilliantly after Faf du Plessis and Heinrich Klaasen set up a strong total. Glasgow Cosmic fought hard in the chase, but wickets at regular intervals meant they were never quite able to keep pace with the asking rate.
Faf du Plessis (Rotterdam Dockers captain and Player of the Match): "(Secret to producing performances like these) There is a little water puddle in Cape Town called the secret puddle from while I keep drinking some water (chuckles). Just wanting to play the game, wanting to perform, wanting to put in the work, being at a level where I feel I can be a high performer. Self drive is the biggest thing for that, and the most important reason.
(Start of his innings) Did feel very tricky, surprisingly steep bounce, almost like what you feel like in a Test match where there's a lot of grass on the wicket and the ball's moving through the air but also up and down. The chat was that it's not a wicket where you can slog, need to play really good cricket shots, playing the ball late, you don't want to be going at the ball too much. I suppose it's just the basics of Test and One Day cricket that gives you a know-how of different scoring areas, we thought looking at it before that it was on the slower side, but today it felt steeper.
(Did he feel 172 was adequate?) Yes, I felt so. Batting out there in the powerplay, the only thing I was worried about was going 3 or 4 down in the powerplay. Did feel like one of those wickets. Just putting a little bit back in making sure that the communication was even a 30 or 40 for one is a really good powerplay, and then as the ball gets a little softer, with the shorter side, you could really pick your options to attack, and that's how it played out. We felt there was option to target the short side, but still, scoring on the other side as well, so often on a ground like this you completely focus on the short side and you forget about the other side.
(On his fifties, taking catches and loving the game at the moment) Yup, loving it. I'm very driven, very driven to perform like I said earlier, hopefully long may it continue. Still loving the game."

With the short side and the breeze going towards it, I thought our bowlers did nicely there, especially at the start. The way T [Mills] started and asked questions, there was a bit in the wicket, and we probably didn't make the best use of that first go on the surface.
(On the difficulties in the chase) Yeah, obviously, I think when you lose wickets early on, it makes it hard chasing any score. But I think the way Jase came out and played positively sort of gave us hope, and then we didn't really find anything else other than that. I think they bowled nicely and we got caught on the big side, which is disappointing.
(On the team's chances in the tournament) Oh look, I keep going back to the experience, but we've just got to turn up as a team, as a collective, and keep finding ways to enjoy it. I think when you lose that enjoyment, it gets very difficult. And the one thing I can say is the guys have turned up every time to try their best, and it's made it a lot easier from my end.
(On his experience of the inaugural ETPL) Yeah, it's been awesome. I think the Dutch leg was class, and now coming here with the different flavours is really good. I think it's really important for European cricket, so long may it continue."

With both teams looking to revive their campaigns, this was a valuable win for Rotterdam as they strengthen their position in the race for the top four. After the game was reduced to 19 overs, the Dockers made the most of their opportunity, posting 172/4 before their bowlers kept Glasgow batters at bay.
Glasgow made a lively start to the chase, with Jason Roy's 23 off 11 providing the early spark, but Rotterdam kept finding ways to break partnerships. Moises Henriques struck 26 off 13 to keep the chase moving, while Liam Livingstone and Richard Berrington could not build on their starts. Just when the innings seemed to be slipping away, Jimmy Neesham launched a counterattack, smashing 28 off 17, and briefly gave Cosmic something to believe in. Matthew Henry Cross added 16, but the required rate kept climbing and wickets continued to fall. Once Neesham departed, the chase lost its momentum and Glasgow eventually finished on 141/9.
