After a close game like this you want to watch more of the tournament immediately. However, the schedule is shaped in such a way that we have a 4-day break now. It feels unfair but well it is what it is. On the 10th of September, Trinbago Knight Riders Women will take on Jamaica Empress Women in Match 3 at 7:30 PM IST, 10 AM Local Time. Jamaica Kingsmen get off the mark in WCPL with a really nail-biting win. They had to really dig deep to get across the line. Having said, they must blame themselves for falling into a situation like this after the lovely start they got. Well, all is well that ends well.
For Guyana Amazon Warriors, they must be proud of the way they bounced back in the game with both bat and ball after poor starts in both innings. They have saved themselves from a drubbing in the NRR column which looked very possible at one stage. That is a positive for them but as their captain mentioned, they need to work on getting off the blocks in style.

Stafanie Taylor (Jamaica Empress Women Captain): "[On the close win] Yeah, a bit nerve wrecking. It is nice to get over the line. I feel Chinelle did a fantastic job. Coming down to the end, everything was a bit chaotic because we lost one over and then we were behind. Then, we kept losing wickets and I was like what are we going to do now. Though, I knew that as long as Chinelle is there, anything is possible. Just happy that she got us over the line.
[On losing many wickets in the middle] Yeah, I thought we lost 3 quick wickets and that kind of pushed us back. The kind of momentum we had, we thought we were cruising. I though, Meg did fantastic to get us to a good start with Rashada, but when we had a meeting, it was about rotating the strike. However, that is where we failed and ended up losing those quick wickets.
[On proudly representing Jamaica for the first time with Chinelle Henry] We are happy that me and Chinelle are back into Jamaica. Obviously, it is the first team so how can you not have Chinelle representing her country and me as well. When I had a chat with the owner, he was like, 'you gotta comeback.' I was like, 'Of course I am going to come back.' So, yeah, it is nice to represent Jamaica, and I am happy we got off to a good start.
[Takeaways from the game] I thought Guyana did really well. The Shemaine and Grimmond partnership was really good. They had 90-odd partnership. We need to learn from that. I do not think we bowled really well to them. I think for us in batting, just rotate the strike a little bit more. Because we were in front and then if you look at how many wickets we lost. We were cruising at one stage. We just need to go back to the drawing board and look where we could have done better and work on more strike rotation."

Chloe Tryon (Guyana Amazon Warriors Women Captain): "[On their poor batting powerplay] Yeah, probably not the way we wanted to start. It was 7 or 8 runs after almost 4 overs. We needed to show more intent. When Shemaine came in, she did really well. She got a good partnership with Realeanna and I felt like that rescued us a little bit. We recovered really well though I felt we still were short of runs. Probably 15-20 runs short.
[On their bowling effort] Look, we probably did not start well again in the powerplay. Too many loose balls. They bowled a lot tighter. Though, I think we pulled things back really well. The team showed a lot of character by squeezing things up with dot balls. The scoreboard pressure helped a bit at the end. Cricket is a funny game and unfortunately, we could not get over the line. We fought well till the end. We will regroup and come back strong next game.

Obviously, the men had a team and when I knew the women are also going to have one, I was really excited. To be able to finish the game for them today was even better.

10:50 PM IST, 1:20 PM Local Time: Jamaica Empress Women win by 1 wicket! Phew! What a thriller have we witnessed here at Bridgetown. It was never supposed to be so tough for Jamaica after the start they got in the first 10 overs. However, credit must be given to Guyana to bounce back into the contest and in fact lead it while entering the last over. However, they failed to get past the powerful Chinelle Henry and the tall all-rounder with her big hitting prowess played one of the better innings of her life.
