What a final we have witnessed here in Guyana. The Warriors looked completely down and out at the innings break after being bowled out for just 85, but what a response they produced. Imran Tahir collects the winners trophy and then is joined by his teammates. Tahir lifts the trophy high in the air. The Guyana Amazon Warriors have successfully defended their crown. After winning the championship in GSL Season 2, they have done it again in GSL Season 3!
Imran Tahir (Guyana Amazon Warriors Captain): "(On making the Providence Stadium a fortress. Any message to the fans?) Look to be honest, we didn't have a great start to the Final. We obviously knew that it would be difficult to defend it. I told the boys to keep believing. Any other day, the other team could've chased it down easily. You need to have that belief in yourself in order to defend this score. I am really proud of my boys, who played like Warriors. I also want to appreciate San Francisco with the way they played. They obviously have a few youngster and also a few seniors in the team. To come all the way to the final and put on a performance like that against us is really amazing.
(On winning his third title) Look this is one of the special game I have played in my career and there are a lot of reasons for that. I wish I can play always but you know, I am not going to get into the Finals often and keep winning trophies. So, it can be difficult. I told the boys that you can win any championship but when you defend any championship successfully, that's the bigger reward. When you retire, sit back and look into it, you will feel proud. You have made the Guyanese people proud. I am sure, on behalf of the team, we have managed to inspire the kids.
(Mindset at the halfway stage) Look, we were really down to be honest. We were really disappointed with that batting performance in front of our home crowd. The only message was that we need to have belief in order to defend this total. The message was clear to the boys. Credit goes to them as all of them put their hands up and showed character. Motie was outstanding in the field. We played a really good tournament. I am really grateful to all my teammates.
(At what point did he stop doubting on himself with regards to the result) Look, I think probably in the last two wickets. I felt that, if we can pick up just 1 more wicket here, we can lift the trophy. I was imagining that in front of our home crowd. Happy to send a message to the fans that we have managed to do it again. I want to thank the President, the Home Minster and my family. I am really, really grateful to the almighty."

[Thoughts on the chase] We were pretty confident. Just needed to bat through, we just could not do it today.
[On the surface] I mean the pitch was pretty inconsistent. Few were keeping low and few were turning big. That made it hard to play and that was the turning point I guess.
[On the approach] Just wanted to utilise the powerplay and that's why I went for it but as I said, we could have batted better. Really proud of the boys for the way we played and reached the final.
[On their campaign] I think we did well, bowled well and batted well. We didn't have a complete game but hopefully, next year it will be better.
[Message to fans] I just want to thank everyone. Hopefully, we will do better next time."

In a division match, we managed to chase down 85 runs after being at 48/8 at one stage. Now, today, we managed to defend that score. Really amazing game. Really enjoyed.
(On being consistent throughout the tournament) Well, in this kind of a wicket, you need to bowl in the right areas. That's why the wicket is not easy to play. Unfortunately in the match, I didn't bat well. I got run out three times which is not good for me.
(How does he go about balancing his form in both departments) In that game, I really enjoyed the company of Romario Shepherd (on the run chase vs the Vipers). We discussed about how to go about it every over. I am really enjoying my batting at this age. I have managed to balance my batting with timing and power.
(When did they start sensing something special tonight?) Well, I always had the belief on myself and my team. We managed to get two wickets in the first two overs and then started believing. We just wanted to continue picking up wickets and put the opposition under pressure.
(Where does this victory rank?) I think this is the best one."
