Rovman Powell: "Our batting in the middle overs was our downfall. I'm not carrying on. I'm getting some scores here and there but just not carrying on for the big one."
Nicholas Pooran: "I know I was due and there was no better opportunity for me. Today was my day. I knew it was better for the spinners. I just wanted to get a few overs in from my pacers but I wanted to use my spinners for the main overs. Our local players have been doing good. Gudakesh and Odean Smith have been doing well so why not trust them."
Guyana Amazon Warriors skipper Nicholas Pooran has also been named as the 'Player of the Match'
A pretty comfortable 46-run victory for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the end and Nicholas Pooran will be a happy man. Kennar Lewis Lewis started positively but it proved to be one shot too many as he top-edged a short delivery from Romario Shepherd to Shoaib Malik. From there, the inexperienced duo of Kirk McKenzie and Haider Ali failed to get going and consumed a lot of deliveries.
It was eventually Odean Smith who dismissed McKenzie and Haider back-to-back in the ninth over. Shamarh Brooks and Rovman Powell also struggled before the latter was dismissed by Gudakesh Motie. In the very next over, Odean Smith dominated Andre Russell and dismissed him in what was a sensational wicket maiden. The crafty Motie came back in the 16th over and removed both Brooks and Carlos Brathwaite as Jamaica collapsed to 101-7. In the end, Afghan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq got a couple of wickets while he also ran out Migael Pretorius with Jamaica ending up all-out for just 123!
W Full on the stumps, Permaul looks to flick but he misses and gets struck in front. LBW appeal and the umpire raises his finger immediately. OH!! Wait. No-ball check going on. Luckily for Naveen, just a small part of the foot is behind the crease and the decision stays OUT!!
