11:53 PM IST, 7:23 PM Local Time: Hampshire annihilated Essex in the T20 Blast 2026 Quarter-Final, winning by a massive 75 runs to book their place in the semifinals. Sonny Baker produced a sensational bowling display, registering career-best figures of 5/24.
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Hampshire posted a massive 211/3 in their 20 overs, powered by a record-breaking century from skipper James Vince.
Vince and Toby Albert provided Hampshire with a strong start, adding 60 runs for the opening wicket before Albert was dismissed for 22 by Simon Harmer. Vince was handed a lifeline after Harmer dropped him on 46, and the Hampshire captain made Essex pay with a breathtaking innings.
Vince then combined with Joe Weatherley for a match-defining 117-run partnership for the second wicket. He went on to smash a sensational 125 off 61 balls, becoming the highest individual scorer in a T20 Blast knockout match. Weatherley also played an aggressive knock, scoring 46 off 26 deliveries.
A cameo from Hilton Cartwright (14* off 8) helped Hampshire finish strongly, while Essex bowlers managed only one wicket each through Shane Snater, Sam Cook, and Simon Harmer.
